The lights are on
Very rarely does a developer take community feedback about character design to heart and quickly turn around a new look in a matter of months. Sucker Punch did just that after it debuted Cole’s redesign for Infamous 2 at E3. Find out why this led to another revamping of the character’s look and what the developer thinks of the remastered Sly Collection.
Sucker Punch’s Bruce Oberg gave a demo featuring the new new Cole and explained the changes:
“We got a lot of feedback from people after E3 that they didn’t like the new Cole design that we had made. Frankly, we were really surprised that people were so passionate about the old Cole. We didn’t realize there was quite so much love for him. So we’ve kind of gone back with the design for Cole that we’re rolling out here at Gamescom. He looks more like the Cole from Infamous 1. He’s not exactly the same. He’s in a new city, New Marias. It’s like New Orleans, a southern hot and humid city, so Cole is more lightly dressed. He has a t-shirt instead of the leather jacket that he wore in Infamous. He has lighter-on-his-feet clothes meant for climbing around in a hotter environment. We’re not releasing until 2011 so there still may be tweaks to it, but we’re pretty happy with the new Cole and people we’ve shown it to seem to be happy as well.”
Oberg continues with his thoughts on Sucker Punch’s Sly Cooper franchise undergoing an HD remake on PS3:
“I personally did the original 3D technology in Sly 3, so it’s super cool to see it on HDTVs with real goggles and everything. It’s really great. The Sanzaru guys are doing a really great job with the Sly assets, and some of the technology we used we shared with those guys. So it’s kind of heartwarming for me to see something that I worked on five years ago now actually kind of have new life on the PlayStation 3. It really looks great. It’s super cool that those guys are doing that collection. Actually seeing Sly in Heroes on the Move is kind of cool, too. To see him along with Ratchet and Jack and all of those guys has been kind of cool. We’d always be in the poster together with those guys, but actually seeing them interact and play together has been a thrill for the team. And we’re really excited about that stuff happening.”

Looking good Cole
The new, newer Cole is looking like the original, which is a good thing. I liked the Cole from inFAMOUS and don't really know why Sucker Punch changed it in the first place. I do like how they changed him up with considering the new setting. I'm really excited for the Sly HD trilogy because I have never played the Sly games so this might be a very neat and new experience.

looks like the first cole changed his cloths but i liked the original cole so im glad
I like it. Besides, it isn't the first time Cole gets a new look. In the original E3 trailer for the first game, he had shorter pants and some Chinese writing on them.
Good change. The last Cole looked like a complete tool. He looked more likely to whip up a grande jamoca latte than kick some ass.
You know I like the new design and happy about getting inFamous 2 but I honestly still want to see Sly 4 that was one of my favorite franchises back in Ps2 day.
I don't like it at all. I prefer the old new one over this. He looks like a redneck crackhead now. He also looks so much younger than the first version of cole. The only thing between the first and this one is the bald hairstyle. I absolutely hate this. I have an idea! Let's make him black! (That was sarcasm FYI)
I love the redesign, the original remake of him looked to "Gung-ho Hero" for me. This new one that looks like the Infamous 1 Cole is WAAAAAAYYYY better
Umm, I really didn't mind the old new Cole either way, but, I don't mind this one either. But I have two problems with the new old Cole.
1. His scowl. Please do something about it.
2. His current hair. Just please add SOME that doesn't make it look like he has professionally colored one part of his top head brown.
But either way, I'm getting it. And Sly seems cool too, I plan to get it also.

I liked the original redesign, but This ones pretty slick too.
Can't wait for the HD Sly. That'll be fun.
And as for Cole.... I liked the other Cole and the original, but this Cole I hate. Just, ugh, look at his face. I'm gonna have nightmares or something. Very over dramatic...

I agree with the changes. I read the article about infamous 2 in GI and couldn't figure out how they managed to let a character look like that. I mean he looks like one of those guys who bought all his clothes from the salvation army. Nothing says take me seriously like a bar code tattoo
