Sony To Combine Android Phone And PSP Go?

by Nick Ahrens on Aug 11, 2010 at 12:50 PM

Sony’s PSP Go was a bit of a dud, so the next version of Sony’s mobile gaming device is going to have to make some waves. If early rumors are to be believed, the next PSP could cause a tsunami.

Not one to be easily fooled, tech site Engadget seems fairly convinced that Sony – in its partnership with Ericsson – is working on a PSP/smart phone hybrid that runs on Google’s Android 3.0 operating system. Engadget even worked up a slick mock up image (below).

If this is true then the next PSP might have a similar design to the PSP Go, but it would also feature a touch screen and be able to handle all the heavy lifting of a modern smart phone. Sources even say that game franchises like God of War, Modern Warfare, and Little Big Planet are in the works for the device, and that this new hardware could be out as early as October.

If any of this is true, we just need to know how much the monthly contract would cost…and where we need to sign.
