Head Back To Borderlands With Claptrap-Centric DLC

by Jeff Cork on Aug 11, 2010 at 03:25 AM

Days after PC users discovered hints about it contained within the game’s files and Gearbox’s president all but confirmed its existence, 2K Games has officially announced Borderlands’ latest DLC. Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution puts players in charge of quelling a Claptrap revolution. Players have to work with formal foe the Hyperion Corporation to destroy the growing robotic army – led by the Ninja Assassin.

Want to hear 2K’s President Christoph Hartmann say a bunch of weird stuff? Here you go: “A year ago Borderlands was an untested brand that through hard work and a lot of passion, turned out to be one of the best-selling, claptastic, and skagtacular games we have ever created. A year later, we are releasing our fourth DLC installment, Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution, which illustrates our enthusiasm for creating highly entertaining content that enhances a franchise. In addition to serving as the perfect bookend to the original game, what gamer doesn’t love a kung-fu-wielding Ninja Assassin Claptrap with nunchuk skills?”

OK then.

The pack includes more than 20 new missions with boss battles, new Claptrap types, and even wildlife that have been given mechanized Claptrap makeovers. Players can earn 10 new skill points and three new backpack slots, too.

Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution is the fourth add-on to the game, following the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot, and the Secret Armory of General Knoxx. It’ll be available in September for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, for 800 Microsoft Points/$9.99.
