Head Back To Borderlands With Claptrap-Centric DLC

Days after PC users discovered hints about it contained within the game’s files and Gearbox’s president all but confirmed its existence, 2K Games has officially announced Borderlands’ latest DLC. Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution puts players in charge of quelling a Claptrap revolution. Players have to work with formal foe the Hyperion Corporation to destroy the growing robotic army – led by the Ninja Assassin.

Want to hear 2K’s President Christoph Hartmann say a bunch of weird stuff? Here you go: “A year ago Borderlands was an untested brand that through hard work and a lot of passion, turned out to be one of the best-selling, claptastic, and skagtacular games we have ever created. A year later, we are releasing our fourth DLC installment, Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution, which illustrates our enthusiasm for creating highly entertaining content that enhances a franchise. In addition to serving as the perfect bookend to the original game, what gamer doesn’t love a kung-fu-wielding Ninja Assassin Claptrap with nunchuk skills?”

OK then.

The pack includes more than 20 new missions with boss battles, new Claptrap types, and even wildlife that have been given mechanized Claptrap makeovers. Players can earn 10 new skill points and three new backpack slots, too.

Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution is the fourth add-on to the game, following the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot, and the Secret Armory of General Knoxx. It’ll be available in September for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, for 800 Microsoft Points/$9.99.

Man, it's the game that keeps on giving. Love it.

  • WEEEEWHOOOOO! I wish all my stupid friends wouldn't have traded their copies in already though >:|

  • Im going to feel so sad killing all those claptraps

  • Awesome!!!

  • Sweet

  • I am just now beginning General Knoxx and it is so hard at level 51!  I have to go grind for several hours and level up before I complete it.  Zombie Island was awesome.  Still don't have Underdome, but may pick up this weekend as I am very happy with all the DLC I have purchased so far.  This is by far my favorite game to come out in the last few years.

  • so ready for this.

  • But I want to help the Claptrap revolution...

  • Cool, killer Claptraps. That doesn't really sound that scary.

  • All the comments clearly disagree with me, but I feel Gearbox needs to stop fooling around with boring DLC and make Borderlands 2 and address its faults. Yes, shooting zombies was cool for a second, but wandering around, unloading thousands of bullets into each enemy to kill them isn't as fun to me as it seems to everyone else. The best part of the game was the beginning when your characters actually felt powerful, yet still vulnerable.
