THQ's Bilson Says Saints Row 3 Is "Wackier & Weirder"

by Matthew Kato on Aug 10, 2010 at 05:00 AM

We'd like to know more about Saints Row 3, but the game wasn't debuted at E3 as expected, and its release date has been pushed back – most likely to 2011. But that's not stopping film/writing/videogames vet, THQ core games boss, and renaissance man Danny Bilson from throwing out a few tantalizing tidbits about the game.

In an interview with CVG, Bilson attempting to distance Saints Row 3 from the Saints franchise's initial inspiration – the Grand Theft Auto series. "We don't compete with GTA. We're differentiating even further with GTA with this one. The new Saint's Row will be less urban – it's definitely not about gangsta anymore at all. And it's more fun and almost sillier and wackier and weirder than the other one." Bilson says that there will be new gangs and  the game will take place in a "new world." We presume he is referring to a new city other than Stilwater in the first games [including Saints Row 2, shown above], but we'll have to wait and see. Furthermore, Bilson says that the game has a slightly wider scope, and that its new location includes non-criminal elements as well.

Bilson promises that Saints Row 3 will have top-notch visuals and more game mechanics, and that we should be hearing more about the game this December. What are looking for out of Saints Row 3?
