Valve Breaks Down Mutation Stats In L4D Blog
Over on their official blog, Valve has broken down some stats regarding the popular Mutations in Left 4 Dead 2. Turns out that the most popular one so far is Chainsaw Massacre, followed by Last Man on Earth and Realism Versus. They also go into details on how they decide on these alternate game modes.
"Some of the constraints we decided on when creating Mutations: It was okay if it wasn't something that you wanted to play enough to replace an existing game mode as long as it was fun for a short period. Not every Mutation was going to appeal to everyone. Some Mutations would be directly aimed at smaller demographics inside the larger player base," the blog says.
The post also gives the "You should have tried it because you would have loved it" award to the Hard Eight mutation, which they feel has been underplayed thus far.
