The lights are on
A good chunk of the Game Informer staff has spent the last couple of weeks infatuated with StarCraft II, the latest real-time strategy epic from Blizzard. While many of us have fond memories of the original StarCraft from 1998, there's probably a lot less people who remember 2000's Nintendo 64 port. Luckily, we do, and we decided to dig it out of the vault and check it out.
Join Andrew Reiner, Dan Ryckert, Adam Biessener, and I as we attempt to figure out what's going on with StarCraft 64's muddy graphics and sound, discuss Dan's Southern/swamp heritage, and explore an altogether different ruining of a different classic game from days past in Replay Roulette.

Yes, Replay goodness!
I'm so glad I never tried to play this on N64
Wow, another great Replay! As far as suggestions go (and I hope nobody's tired of my saying this), when are we going to see some classic SNES zombie goodness with Zombies Ate My Neighbors?
Well, my video thinks it's over after 5 minutes...
i remember playing this with my brothers when we were little.we'd set our drones to harvesting resources, then we'd go play or do chores while we waited for our resources to build up.then it was just a race to see who could crank out the most armor and soldiers, and then raze the the other players colony to the ground
I am suprised at the lack of starcraft familiarity in the GI staff, maybe its cause im half korean
YOU WANNA PEICE'A ME BOY?
No guys starcraft 64 was awesome. i played it when i was thirteen to fifteen. it was awesome. the controls were kinda annoying and all graphics then were bad. but if it never came out i never would have played it.
It was the bes rts ever at the time even if it was better on pc. it even had split screen. me and my friend kenny would turn the volume down and made our no looking oath.
before that it was just the original command and conquer. that was garbage compared to starcraft. (although when i was eleven i loved it)
That port of starcraft to the n64 i never would have heard "you must construct additional pylons" the ai was good and the story was solid and i didnt have to pay extra for the brood war expansion.
DONT DISS IT IT WAS A CROWN JEWEL WHEN IT CAME OUT.
I AM HONERED TO HAVE IT IN MY N64 COLLECTION IT SET MY STANDARD FOR RTS
I was going to buy this when I saw a copy a couple years ago to add it to my cartridge collection, but 35 bucks for any N64 game just isn't worth it...
if you hit b & z at the same time it built a master build menu that made building buildings easier.
Bring this to the DS!!
WOW!!! that was scary to know the torture that you went through for that replay...I don't even think Eli Roth, or the movie Martyrs could prepare me for that devastation...
Replay is the best thing Game Informer has ever done. Dan Ryckert is my hero.
How ironic: just today I was telling my friend how my ps3 has been collecting dust since I got Starcraft 2, which led to a discussion of how it wouldn't work on a console anyway. I couldn't imagine what a nightmare micro must be in SC64 *shudder*
I remember playing Starcraft 64 first when it came out. I thought it was pretty good at the time.
Then about ten months later I got the PC version. It should come as no surprise that I stopped playing the 64 version from then on.
This was my first RTS...
I'm actually kind of booty hurt that you are bashing it. I got really good at it...
Kerrigan got screwed over by Arcturus on Tarsonis.
Awesome Replay! I couldn't even BREATHE after I finished watching this!
can you please replay crackdown or the first gears of war.
