Weekend Warrior 08/06/10

by Annette Gonzalez on Aug 06, 2010 at 02:00 PM

This weekend the GI staff is playing catch up. What are you up to this weekend? Let us know in the comments section below.

Andy: Must...finish...Starcraft 2...

Reiner: I'm mostly caught up on the games I need to play, so I figured I'd go back and start up one of the RPGs that slipped under my radar. I'm leaning toward Magnacarta 2, but I should also get to White Knight Chronicles at some point. I also have Sonic: The Dark Brotherhood sitting on my shelf. If you've played them, I'd love to hear your thoughts on these three games.

Jeff C: I plan on finishing Symphony of the Night tonight before moving on to some more Castlevania: Harmony of Despair (Yeah, I'm in a bit of a Castlevania mood right now.) I might dig into some LittleBigPlanet, too. It's been a long time since I've checked it out, and I need to see what kinds of new and amazing things are out there these days.

Dan: Still working on some Starcraft, but distractions like Madden 11, Earthworm Jim HD, Hydro Thunder, and Castlevania have slowed my progress somewhat. My gaming weekend will be a bit short, however, as I'm heading out to California on Sunday to work on an upcoming preview for the magazine.

Annette: I have some friends in town this weekend, but they're here for work so that'll buy me some time for games during the day. I hope to go through Gears of War and continue chugging along in Dead Space and Red Dead. One day I will finish those two. Also just started Insanity, a workout program by the same company that created P90X. Needed a more cardio-based workout, but it's about as insane as the name implies. Worth checking out. Who says gamers can't get into shape? Finally quick birthday shoutouts to my mom and my best friend, Nicki. Bummed I can't be in Chicago to celebrate :(

Jeff M: Like clockwork, I failed to beat or even play either Red Dead Redemption or Red Faction: Guerrilla last weekend. I did, however, play more RE 5 with my sister -- her inability to play dual analog games combined with her fear of zombies results in hilarity every time. I'm going to go ahead and say that I'll play Limbo this weekend too, just to keep my streak of failing to follow through on my WW goals alive.

Jeff A: I hope to wrap up Half Life 2: Episode 2. Man, what a crazy, awesome ride that game has been. I'm also hoping to get back into a little Minish Cap, but the allure of The Orange Box might very well keep me glued to my PS3 for some time in the form of Portal. Unfortunately, I've still got a little game called Red Dead Redemption waiting for me in the wings. As well as Transformers: War for Cybertron. But it's the old stuff ftw. Someday I'll catch up.

That's it for us. What are you up to this weekend?
