Nuture Your Creativity With Art Academy

by Jeff Marchiafava on Aug 04, 2010 at 01:09 PM

As a video game enthusiast, do you ever get tired of blowing up every enemy stronghold and alien spaceship in sight? Neither do we. But if you did, we could recommend to you Nintendo's new Art Academy, which asks you to put aside the standard task of widespread destruction and instead draw a beautiful work of art. Or a wiener.

Designed for the DS family of systems, Art Academy gives the player a wide variety of art tools to create their own paintings, using the handheld's stylus as a brush. Art Academy also contains 10 lessons on color, shading, movement, and perspective to turn you into a bona fide artist. Plus, you can do something Van Gogh could never do (besides wear ear muffs) – undo your mistakes with the simple press of a button.

Art Academy is actually a compilation of two DSiWare titles (Art Academy: First Semester and Art Academy: Second Semester) and will be available on October 25 for $19.99. The image above was even created by Nintendo employee Krysta Yang. Not impressed yet? Check out this speed drawing video done as part of the Japanese promotion for the game. Clearly Bob Ross ain't got **** on this game...
