The lights are on
The fact that NBA Jam will be coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 wasn’t much of a surprise anymore, but the specific delivery method is. A download code for the game will be bundled in new copies of EA Sports’s retail game NBA Elite 11. And those versions won’t include the Wii exclusive Remix Tour, which includes boss battles against classic NBA pros.
"We're still holding back the Remix Tour for the Wii consumer, and that's about 20 hours of gameplay," said Jordan Edelstein, Vice President of Marketing for EA Sports, to ESPN. "But for the PS3 and 360, we want people to try 'Elite'. We feel like 'NBA Elite 11' is a great product and we want people to give it a chance and see all the changes we're making. So as a way to say thanks to these people, we are going to let them experience 'Jam'. It's not the full product, but it's a good portion of it.
"And the only way to play 'Jam' on the 360 and PS3 is by picking up 'Elite'. There's a one-time use code that will be in every copy of 'Elite', so you just go online and redeem it. We're not selling 'Jam' on PSN or Xbox Live. If you still want the full product, the full experience is on the Wii, but if you pick up 'Elite', you're still getting a good taste of it, especially with the inclusion of online play."
It looks like you’ve got a decision to make come October 5, when NBA Elite 11 ships.

They all know that this game is going to sell bad so what's the point. I bet people will buy the game and sell it right back to get NBA Jam. I think its unfair.
WOW! What a way to F*** over the consumers. And, quite possibly, make less money in the process. I can only see this pissing off more people than getting them excited.
That's a dirty, rotten trick. No, I won't buy it now. I wanted to, but you're not conning me into buying a $60 game for it. I'll pick up 2K11 without NBA Jam because I'm not playing into underhanded bulls*** like this. Get bent, EA.
Reminds me of when microsoft bundled the halo3 beta codes in Crackdown. The difference here is that NBA Jam isn't Halo, and nobody's going to pay for a fullprice game to get a cut-down NBA Jam bonus.
I was already going to get it for Wii... but still. I know plenty of PS3 and 360 owners who were looking forward to NBA Jam. Free or not, maybe the consumer looking to pick up JAM wasn't interested in Elite and just wanted the full JAM experience. I'm not trying to say Elite won't be a sweet game, it just seems odd not include the Remix tour.
The Wii just s*** the bed. No one actually cares about the remix tour, all anyone wants to do is play good ole nba jam, and now they can in HD and over Live or PSN. Until the 3DS, it has and will be a sad day for Nintendo.
wow this is BS........
Nah, I don't care about basketball. At least as far as the NBA Diva League is concerned.
And obviously EA knows it too.
I was really hoping they were going to do a full port to psn and xbla. I'm not a fan sports games, unless they are arcade style, so this is really disappointing.
I think this is hilarious.
People whine & complain about exclusive games all the time. It's how Sony lost their exclusivity for Final Fantasy & Metal Gear.
What's funny is the catch. People whined for 360 Metal Gear & got Raiden. No Snake.
Which brings me to NBA Jam. People whined & pleaded for it to be more than a Wii Exclusive, but winded up getting a glorified downloadable 360/PS3 demo in NBA Elite's box, instead of a full blown retail game.
Awesome. Kudos to EA. Glad they are keeping majority of NBA Jam's features exclusive to Wii.
Let this be a lesson for people. You want an exclusive game? By the console it was meant for in the first place.
I think you guys are looking at this wrong. Don't see it as "we have to buy NBA Elite to get Nba Jam", but rather, see it as "We get a free version of NBA jam when we buy NBA Elite!". At least, thats how EA wants you to see it.
Nice way to screw yourselves and the consumer at the same time, EA. I'm not buying Elite, but I would've bought Jam. Now I don't get Jam and you don't get any money from me. So I guess we both lose.
This whole deal seems very shady to me. I'm confused as to why they would package the game differently. Why not release the full game on all consoles and package great and exclusive DLC with each copy of NBA Elite?
I understand that NBA Elite (formerly NBA Live) experience horrible sales because of its crappy nature, but this move can only make it seem less appealing.
BOOOOOOOO. Whoevers decision this was sucks. i might mave chipped in 10 or 15 bucks to play a full nba jam on my ps3, and i do have a wii but i dont want it on that. its probably going to have a bunch of gimmicky motion controls. but theres no way im going to pay 60 bucks for a game that i dont care about to get a dumbed down version of another game that i only kind of care about to have the disk sitting around collecting dust and after not long not be playing nba jam either because you took off 20 hours of gameplay..
on the other hand, i might just wait until next year when nba elite 11 is 10 or 15 bucks then ill buy it new and get away with both games cheap.
An underhanded move from a company with a brass balls
Who wants to wast there money on NBA Elite? EA is full of Sugar..Honey.. Ice.. tea.. i was really looking forward for NBA Jam for the PSN.. im not going to pay 60$ for a game thats Trash, just to download half a game. im stinking with NBA 2k11 the fact that i can play with MJ makes up for it.
For less than $60 I can pick up a Sega Genesis with NBA Jam Tournament and probably scoop some other games for that console at the same time. I may even be able to find a Sega Nomad and play NBA Jam on the road.
Get real EA.
Why would NBA Jam be more than $5 on PSN or 400 M$ points on XBL?
