Force Unleashed II Producer Steps Down

It seems like only a week ago we were talking to executive producer Haden Blackman about what cool new features will be in The Force Unleashed II. Today we learned about one cool feature that will sadly be missing from future LucasArts games: Haden Blackman.

In an interview with IGN, Blackman stated that as great as it has been working for LucasArts, it's time to move on. "While the decision to leave LucasArts did not happen overnight or come easily, I really feel that now is the best time for me to move on and explore new creative challenges and I look forward to the next phase of my career."

In addition to working on Force Unleashed I and II, Blackman also had a hand in creating Star Wars: Galaxies, and Star Wars: Force Commander. We wish him luck in his future endeavors.

  • god luck on the rest of your career and god speed!

  • hmm

  • Aw man, Haden Blackman is the best, he will be missed. I wonder why he left, it doesn't make sense.

  • Haden was the man!!!  Really sad to see him go :(.  Hopefully TFUII doesn't suffer because of his departure.

  • Maybe they quit because they're jealous that Lucasarts isn't letting them work on SWTOR lol.

  • somethin fishy is goin on at lucas arts... perhaps a new star wars suprise? he probabally still has connections in there...

  • I really hope this doesn't delay the game though

  • Seems to me that he thinks Lucas Arts is becoming too stale in terms of what new things it tries to put in its games. Bad news for sure for this upcoming game if he isn't leading the charge anymore. Let's just hope whoever they replace him with is as good if not better.

  • Good luck to Blackman.

I hope SW: TFU II doesn't suffer because of this.

  • Hope this doesn't effect the game. Even if everyone is saying this. :)

  • As long as Lucasarts comes out with a decent Battlefront III soon, I don't care how many people leave. Looking forward to TFUII!

  • Well good luck to him and I hope for the best. Still I wonder what his reasons for leaving were? Considering that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 will be coming out, which will hopefully sell a ton.

As I said, I hope for the best, and I wonder if he will be making his own company or joining another?

  • May Great Odin's spear show you the way and send your enemies into oblivion Mr. Blackman.  Odin speed to you!

  • "... I really feel that now is the best time for me to move on and explore new creative challenges and I look forward to the next phase of my career."

Translation: The Force Unleashed II is going to f*** up the Star Wars canon so much that I think it's best for me to simply step aside so that the wrath all of the furious Star Wars fans will be directed at the poor guy LucasArts puts in my place instead of me.
  • Unfortunetally, Gabriel360's comment makes sense. I hope it's wrong, but we'll have to wait and see.

  • I was kidding.  But if he's going to leave to pursue other interests (i.e., non-Star Wars games), then it would be wise to leave before Star Wars fans start going off on how the story of The Force Unleashed II completely messes up Star Wars canon.

  • While I agree with the tainted canon and far-fetched story I will give the first Force Unleashed that it was very entertaining regardless and hopefully they continue with what worked for them in the last game.

Plus, since when has any of the newer generation Star Wars movies/games/etc. followed canon? O.o
