The lights are on
Fairytale Fights publisher Playlogic has had its share of financial hardships this year, but the floundering may shift to full-fledged sinking, reports Gamasutra. Boasting offices both in New York and Amsterdam, the publisher has filed for bankruptcy overseas. Filing a “surseance van betaling,” the move is on par with Chapter 11 here in the States. The filing truncates both the publishing and internal development arms of Playlogic.
In a press release associated with the filing, Playlogic details their plight, stating that “tough market conditions, late payments by large customers, and the delays in projects have forced the company to seek protection under the Dutch bankruptcy laws.”
The “late payments” jab is aimed at partner Koch Media, which Playlogic alleges owes them a significant amount of money and is currently taking legal action to claim.
Other Playlogic titles include Obscure: The Aftermath, Infernal, Age of Pirates, Sudoku Ball Detective, Worldshift, and Ancient Wars: Sparta.
*Gulp*
That's bad. Hopefully they can get a really good game out to help them get back on their feet.
Those are all crappy titles. The job losses may be a hit to their personnel if there are any...but their titles haven't exactly been blockbusters. My guess, Sudoku Ball Detective was their highest selling item!
Man so many companies going under. It sucks big time.
Well I hope for the best for the employees that worked there. Lets hope they can find another job soon.
It is always sad to loss of jobs but all those games were dreadful.
That's a shame.
Although the only Playlogic game that I was ever even remotely interested in was a 2006 Xbox space shooter called Xyanide. I never got to play it because I'd traded in my Xbox for an Xbox 360 long before it was released. The game did look really pretty, though. Lots of bright colors and flashy stuff happening.
fairy tale fights was fun for a little over 5 minutes.
well. it is unfortunate, but i can't say i am too surprised. fairytale fights is pretty hilarious when 4 people are playing together, but it pretty much sucks if you're playing alone or with one additional person. it didnt hold too much value i find.
still, it's unforunate. 'tis sign of the times.
they release bad games.
at least it wasnt a good studio
Well that list of games doesn't make me feel too sorry for them going under
no not saudoku ball i hate that game no
I don't think Playlogic made one excellent, or good, game. Unfortunately, unsuccessful developers tend to disappear into obscurity with their horrible games.
I don't want to see the company go bankrupt. Hopefully, they can get back on their feet.
yea after fairy tale fights they pretty much had to... that game sucked
