Weird Raft & Giant Sword Debut In New Thor Concept Art

Sega's upcoming Thor game is said to play a lot like Sony's God of War, only the protagonist wields an electrical hammer instead of fiery chains. He also says "verily" more than he should, and he may want to see a fashion consultant (the hat with wings look went out of style in the 90s). In two pieces of concept art released by Sega today, the God of War vibe hits you over the head with a...well...hammer.

The fiery lake is Surtur's forge, and the dock shows a wookiee raft and some kind of device that will probably only work if the player finds six glowing stones. The concept art looks great, and although Sega's track record with Marvel motion pictures is downright awful (Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Incredible Hulk), I'm looking forward to seeing this game in action.

I'm definetly getting a GoW vibe from this. Maybe it'll actually be a good Sega/Marvel game. It certainly looks good.

You're the stinkin' god of thunder! I know you can afford a better boat than that, Thor! Looks like a mattress box with a broken bench from Fenway. At least put an Evinrude on the thing for chrissakes.

Urgh, it's only been a few months since GoW came to a close, and already we have another Greek-mythology action franchise starting up again? I kind of hate the copycat aspects of the industry but what are you gonna do.

God! (no pun intended)I sure hope they do Thor with justice. Even if they have to blatantly rip off God of War 3 I would be sooo happy. To see the world of Thor made digital flesh. The mythology is soooo rich with monsters and heros and savagery. This character soooo lends itself to be an action title,...more so than Hulk or Iron Man. Please Sega! Don't drop the ball on this!

Jesus Christ I am so tired of hearing about how upcoming and newly released games are "just like God of War" JUST STOP!

That aside though, concept art looks pretty good.

I'm not optimistic about this game. And Thor is one of my favorite characters, so I'll have to keep an eye on this.

Their just concept art, and it's my belief that Sega should stop trying to make superhero games and leave that to someone more skilled.
