DC Universe Online Drops November 2

What better place to announce the release date of your comic book-themed MMO than at a comic-themes convention? Yesterday at a panel for DC Universe Online, comic writer Jim Lee announced the DC Universe Online's November 2 release date.

It was also revealed that the game will not require a PSN+ subscription in addition to the subscription fee. In addition to the PS3 version, you can also grab the Sony-developed game for PC.

  • Cool, but I don't know if I will be able to get my hands on it. I am excited for this game and do hope it does succeed well.
  • i don't like the idea of paying to play a game online

  • Wow, the beta testing must be short. I do hope they push it back to summer 2011 just to be safe to fix possible bugs, put out a lot of content, build up more hype, etc.

The reason I say summer 2011 is because fall 2010 is a bad time to release games with the new Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, Fallout, and Assassins Creed, all of which are really popular games and will sell well. I believe more people would be willing to try DCU Online during the summer when people get a little tired of the other games and want to try something new.

I don't have much faith in this game, but I'll still keep an eye on it.
  • um is that batwoman?

  • I'm leery on this one. Teaming up with my favorite characters, even if it does have Power Girl and Zatanna, isn't that big of an appeal to me.

Also, Sony's never been my favorite MMO company, but perhaps that's Galaxies bitterness.

I would like to check it out, and more power to them if they turn my opinion around.

  • Being as they haven't gotten any good word form anyone one outside of the games creators I am guessing this is going to bomb big time. So Sad I wanted to play it.

  • they mess up the game by make you have to pay to play this game online

  • We are in a tough time, its hard enough to buy all the new games we want, but now we have to pay for DC U. Ps3 !? EPIC FAIL.....I still want this game though

  • Word to the wise...any time a game is announced that is going to be an MMO, expect it to have a subscription fee. I never once thought this game wouldn't have one. Now I personally HATE subscription fees for videogames but free MMOs that are of quality (zing!) don't exist.

I really hope DCU is good, but I know others are expecting the worst. There are so many crappy E list DC characters that I can't wait to interact with! Like Matter-Eater Lad!
  • I really need to invest in a PS3 or a good computer. Any word if this is compatible with a Tandy 2000?

  • Awesome we wont need +, but im still waiting for my beta invite! :(

  • The biggest shame in this is that the DC characters are NPCs. That's a fail

  • Only November? That won't leave a lot of time for the beta.

  • LOL..good luck with this move, as Cataclysm comes out around this date...ouch.  Would have been better to try and squeeze between that expansion and SW:TOR.

  • Don't really know anythg about this game but my expectation for superhero games have been raised since Batman AA and Infamous came out so this has a lot to prove

  • Good to know, at least they finally given us a release date. Now hopefully the game does good but we'll see on the release date.

  • Hope I can play the beta. Hope it turns out well.

  • i will have to check out the reviews for this game... sounds really interesting.

  • FF14 should be free 2 -_-. O well this better be good sony or there will be problems!
