Lucasarts On Force Unleashed II, Motion Controls, Yoda

Star Wars is still kind of a big deal at Comic-Con, and LucasArts took advantage of that goodwill to show off some more of Star Wars The Force Unleashed II and answer a couple of questions.

First, apprentice Starkiller showed off his new force power, the Jedi mind trick. With a name like Starkiller, don't expect him to squander it on convincing a few dopey stormtroopers that they're looking at the wrong droids. In the Force Unleashed II, players can zap enemies with it and either have them fight on Starkiller's behalf (fun) or even have them inflict harm on themselves (more fun). In the demo, we saw a few troopers off themselves by leaping into electrical fields and out of windows.

After the demo, executive producer Haden Blackman answered a few questions. When asked about the Star Wars Kinect game teased at E3, Blackman wouldn't say much other than LucasArts is very excited about motion controls and working with Kinect and Move.

We already know that infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett will be making an appearance in the Force Unleashed, but what about other well-known characters from the Star Wars universe? Say, someone like Yoda, for example? Blackman says that Starkiller's adventures will take him to Dagobah and will have a "fateful encounter" there with someone who tells him where to go. That's obviously not direct confirmation about our little green buddy's status, but it sure sounds like it's a distinct possibility.

  • I on board.  Give me a video of the motion contols and a demo to play until release date.  :-D

  • Have you seen Dagobah? No one lives there but Yoda

  • lol blackman is either very bad at covering things up or not directly allowed to say yodas in the game.

  • I didn't like force unleashed one, and I don't think I'm gonna like force unleashed two.

  • I'll skip the side of motion controls. Can I have onion rings instead?

Seriously, though, having stormtroopers jump off cliffs for you sounds like endless entertainment. Now, if we could just do that to Jar-jar...

  • with Move, Kinect, and Motion Plus, i see no reason not to have a real lightsaber game. make it happen LucasArts

as for FU2, i can't wait to play the game. I would love to see Yoda in that game. it's all but confirmed. who the **** else lives on Dagobah, that would lead to a "fateful encounter"?

  • I can't say I am fully convince about Kinect and the motion controls, although, it would be interesting to simply flip your wrist and activate force push in game sending enemies flying.  Hopefully, they improved from the first game as far as balancing.  Sometimes the enemies were impossible and other times they simply laid down and died.  The AI definitely needs some help but here's hoping they improve it for the second.  Two lightsabers is pretty bad a** but hopefully there is more too it then that.  I felt cheated by what I paid for in downloable levels for the first Force Unleashed. We better not be paying for a simple expansion kit.  I have high expectations for LucasArts; they haven't made a great game in years.

  • Hmm, wonder how well mind trick will work in a hectic fight. Could be even more osim.

  • I hope you can choose your saber-wielding style. while i prefer  2  sabers to 1, how bout a darth maul saber??

Anyway, the 2 things i hated about FU (ha!!) is those loading screens to get combos, light sabers, etc. (i know theyre fixing that) and the fact i knew i couldnt kill vader or the emperor. Plus you only played on 4 planets and 2 starbases.  hopefully theres more diversity

  • as far as him meeting Mystery Being (Yoda) in the swamp, watch what will probably happen: Yoda will tell Starkiller he has to stay and train to defeat Vader and the Emperor. Someone will kidnapp Juno Eclipse and Starkiller will go after her to save her. Yoda will tell him to stay but he disobeys and goes to rescue her. "Yoda and Obi-Wan have that exchange "He is our last hope." "No, there is another." Then cut scene to Tattooine and possibly young Luke.
  • This game on Move or Kinect would be fantastic. A really good idea, and I bet Yoda is going to be in it. I can't wait for this game!

  • God, these games totally eff up the canon, but I love the gameplay too much to care.

  • How come Lucasarts never says their excited for doing motion controls on Wii!!!???  They sold a lot of copies of TFU on Wii if I'm correct.  They've dropped the ball way too many times on the Wii.  For instance, why weren't their WiiMotion Plus controls for the TFU1 or for any of their other projects?  Plus why are they so quiet on the Wii version of TFU2?  There's no excuse for them to not have WiiMotion Plus controls for the sequel!

  • Here is a new tech demo for the Move controllers.  The first one would be EPIC if used in a Star Wars game. Then he shows off a demo named Chameleon and all I could think of was a first-person Spider-man game. He finished up with a demo using a flame that could be implemented into fighting games. Lucusarts should check these out:

  • im with Brian Tisdale I on board.  Give me a video of the motion contols and a demo to play until release date.  :-D

  • Although a fan of Star Wars, I haven't really looked into the mythology and everything other than the movies so this question is ill informed, but isn't Yoda the only one on Dagobah?

  • Yoda is definitely gonna be in the game. I mean, he was in the first trailer...

  • graphics look alot sharper. havent seen any gameplay footage yet...

  • PLEASE please please, don't have motion controls.

  • awsome
