Dragon Age Armor Looks Cool. Too Bad It's For Your Avatar

by Joe Juba on Jul 22, 2010 at 09:55 AM

Take a look at your avatar. The vacant expression, the generic clothes, the waving...that thing is not prepared to take down an archdemon and quell a blight. You can fix that by picking up some new Dragon Age: Origin's gear and getting your avatar ready for battle.

According to the listing on BioWare's site, you can pick up the armor for 320 Microsoft points apiece. The options include Blood Dragon armor, King Cailan's armor, Duncan's armor, Legion of the Dead armor, and Morrigan's robes. For the dudes who like to dress up their buddies' avatars in humiliating clothes when they leave the room, I'm sorry to report that the Morrigan robes are female-only. Incidentally, am I the only person who does this?

You can also pick up matching helmets to accompany some the suits of armor (160 MS points each), along with avatar accessories like the Joining Goblet and a Darkspawn Staff (240 MS points each). Not surprisingly, you can't buy any of the numerous dumb hats that make mages in the Dragon Age universe look like buffoons. It's almost like no one wants to wear those!

On one hand, Dragon Age is a great game, and the armor looks pretty cool. On the other hand, it's a lot of money to spend to make your stupid avatar look slightly less embarrassing. Are you planning on picking up any of this stuff?
