New Fight Night Steps Into The Ring In 2011

by Matthew Kato on Jul 20, 2010 at 03:45 AM

Unlike most EA Sports franchises, Fight Night isn't a yearly series. It looks like the franchise is coming out of its corner for a new title slated for 2011 called Fight Night Champion.

IGN has news that developer EA Canada is working on the new title, and while it will try and capture some of the brutal realism of the sport like previous Fight Nights, Champion will also tweak the series' already successful right analog control scheme. Dubbed Full Spectrum Punch Control, it'll be interesting to see how this new control scheme improves upon something the series is already good at.

One area of the Fight Night franchise that has merely been adequate in the past is the career mode. Well, it sounds like Champion is trying to improve that area of the game as well. Sixty to sixty five boxers will be in the game, and gameplay producer Brian Hayes is touting that Champion will introduce gamers to "an entirely new way to step between the ropes and experience the drama, emotion, excitement, and tragedy of world championship boxing."
