Microsoft Confirms 1 Vs. 100 Won’t Be Back For Third Season

by Jeff Cork on Jul 15, 2010 at 06:36 AM

It looks like the second season of 1 vs. 100 on Xbox Live was also its last. Microsoft confirmed that the massively multiplayer game show won’t be returning for a third season. According to a statement from Microsoft to Kotaku, the show is officially over.

"When we started on this journey, we knew we were creating an entirely new genre of entertainment that would be a continually evolving concept," Dave McCarthy, General Manager of Microsoft Game Studios told the site. "We're very proud of the ‘1 vs 100' team and their accomplishments, and are excited to apply what we've learned to future programming."

That’s a shame. The show was a lot of fun to play, and it showed that scheduled live interactive entertainment was possible on a game console. Let’s hope that Microsoft makes good on its plans to apply the tech to future projects – especially if we can score free Microsoft Points and other prizes from them.
