What Is The Setting For Assassin's Creed 3?

by Matt Miller on Jul 13, 2010 at 08:40 AM

A few days ago, we asked you to hypothesize about the next Grand Theft Auto. Now we want to know where and when you'd like to go next in Desmond's time-hopping adventures.

Ubisoft has shown a propensity for creative thinking when choosing settings for its fantastic action/adventure franchise. First, players got to explore the world of Jerusalem and the rest of the Holy Land in the days of the Third Crusade. The series next jumped centuries ahead to the Italian Renaissance, where bloody conflict met high art and architecture. The upcoming Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood will once again explore the life of Ezio Auditore and his later life leading the assassins in Rome.

Recent news indicates the likelihood that the franchise may take a year or two off after that, but there's no doubt in anyone's mind that we'll see an eventual full sequel in a brand new setting. Where will it be? Perhaps more importantly, when will it be?

Perhaps we'll travel into the distant past of Ancient Egypt? Or should Desmond explore ancestral memories of feudal Japan? Maybe a trip to the powerful Mayan civilization, whose apocalyptic calendar figures into the Assassin's Creed mythology? Where and when do you want to go next?
