Surviving The Summer Drought

by Matthew Kato on Jul 13, 2010 at 03:40 AM

Industry analysts are warning that software sales for the month of June aren't going to be good, despite an increase in hardware like the Xbox 360 being sold. Where's your money and attention going if it's supposedly not going towards the games of summer?

Looking at the titles that came out in June, it's not hard to see why analysts are concerned for the month. Alpha Protocol has already been tabbed a sales disappointment by publisher Sega, and although games like Toy Story 3, Transformers: War for Cybertron, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker came out in June, I don't think anyone's expecting these to do huge numbers right off the bat. Moreover, Activision's Singularity (shown above), released late in the month.

Summer is traditionally seen as a tough time to release games, with many of the high-profile titles released towards the end of the year. Since, the industry analysts don't think you've been out buying video games, what have you been doing during this summer sales drought? Have you been playing already-released titles like Red Dead Redemption or more Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2? Are you saving your pennies to get something in particular? Maybe you blew your bank on an Xbox 360 slim. We want to know.
