The lights are on
We had a chance to speak with Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon today, and he mentioned a series title that never saw the light of day. It sounds similar to 2005's Shaolin Monks, but featuring rivals Sub-Zero and Scorpion working in tandem.
"When they finished [Shaolin Monks], the guys at Paradox were gonna do another one called Fire & Ice. It was gonna be a co-operative Scorpion and Sub-Zero game," Boon said. "They actually started the early stages of that game, but they couldn’t do it in time and under budget, so the project was canceled and kind of went away."He continued by poking fun at one of the less fondly-remembered Mortal Kombat titles. "There were a few that have been started, and some that never should have been finished. Special Forces probably shouldn’t have ever been shipped."
Special Forces and MK Mythologies were certainly missteps for the series, but Shaolin Monks was a great co-op experience. Unfortunately, it looks like we won't be seeing Scorpion and Sub-Zero teaming up anytime soon.

I really like how the MK creators try different things all the time, it shows they arent afraid of making something new without automatically rejecting ideas.
I cant get past the title it sounds like a bad 80's band haha
Well I guess that is a good thing, only rare does a co-op experience work in the series. It needs to stay true to what Mortal Kombat does best, fighting.
I would have definitely bought this game, Shaolin Monks was a blast to play cooperatively with a friend, I know you got to play as Subzero and Scorpion as unlockables, but they felt more like skins. A full game dedicated to them would be awesome.
maybe in the new MK coming out in which u can tag team u can pick sub and scorpion, then brag to everyone online about your "fire and ice' team :P
I actually can't wait for the new Mortal Kombat to come out, definatly looks like it's returning to it's roots. I'm content that this game will probably never see the light of day, but who knows, maybe it could have been good.
that sucks it could have cooler than shaolin monks
Liked Mythologies, Loved Shaolin Monks.
yes more Mortal Kombat!!!
Wait wait...don't Scorp and Subz hate each other? Scorp came back from hell to kill Sub after Sub killed him. Even if it was the younger bro Sub Zero I don't think they would get along too well. With that out of the way a Sub Zero Scorp team up game would be BAD ASS!
I would have bought a Scorpion, Sub Zero team up game also.
Actually I felt Mythologies was excellent. Special Froces was terrible, and I didn't really care for MK: Shaolin Monks had a really screwed up version of MK II for a story.
Sub-Zero and Scorpion = EPIC!!
I loved Shaolin Monks and Scorpion and Sub-Zero are my favorite characters. I would've played it.
I bet Scorpion and sub zero won't get along anyway.
