The lights are on
Earlier today we revealed that Dragon Age II is splattered across the cover of our August issue. We also informed you that BioWare kicked off the sequel to their award-winning RPG with a new website. Now we’re pleased to bring you some of the very first details about the game, such as the new protagonist’s legendary role, the change in combat, and more. According to Dr. Ray Muzyka, senior vice president of EA and co-founder of BioWare, “Dragon Age 2 will simultaneously deliver an epic story and set a new bar for intense action in the genre.”We’d expect nothing less than a jaw-dropping story from a BioWare game, but the company’s new emphasis on action is interesting. The game promises that players will be able to “think like a general and fight like a Spartan,” so we’ll see what that exactly entails as more unfolds. The game is also going to serve as a “new entry point” for newcomers, according to executive producer Mark Darrah. He also asserts that BioWare is working hard to make sure “fans of the original game retain a sense of satisfaction and familiarity in the world.” This may simply mean referencing events of the first game, or it could also mean a Mass Effect 2-style save transfer is being planned. Finally, the new protagonist has been named Hawke. He is a “penniless refugee who rises to power to become the single most important character in the world of Dragon Age.” And here you thought your Grey Warden was such a bad ass. It sounds like players will spend much of the game deciphering the truth around the myth of the Champion of Kirkwall. How did he rise to power? How did he survive the blight? Why does he hold so much clout? We’ll have to wait and see.Be sure to grab the August issue of Game Informer to learn more.

I love Dragon Age!! I can't wait to find out more!!
I still want to find out what happened to Morrigan. But I am excited for this game!
I CAN'T WAIT!!!!! I FREAKIN CAN'T WAIT!!!!! I loved the first one!
Awesome, my favorite gameing magazine scores the sequal to one of my all time favorite games :D
Nice! If they were planning on a DA:O import feature, maybe it will include the choice you had to make at the end concerning Morrigan... That'd be sweet, to continue that thread.
im glad their making it for newcomers because im not picking up origins.
this game looks great i'm so pumped for this
Glad to see you guys are on top of this. Can't wait to get my issue.
Man. There sure are alot of people obsessing over Morrigan.
Where did it say no character customization. All I saw was a name. I just want to make sure Bioware keeps the complexity and not lower the bar for casual gamers.
YEAH!!!! I just started playing DA:O again. IT has to be my 10th play through. Only thing that bothers me is that you are a human, dwarf warriors were the best!
Wait, what? Don't tell me they're scrapping origin stories.
Does this mean you wont get to make your own character anymore? If thats true then Bioware just killed one of my favorite franchises.....but maybe it's like the commander shepard thing where his name is Hawkes but he can look like whatever you want him to look like.
They better not cut out the RPG elements like they did to Mass Effect 2.
Wow. Almost everyone looks like they at least have one claw on their hand.
What happens if my character didn't die at the end of the first game? Would like to see that play a part in the sequel, also the Morrigan with demon baby child plot line should be fleshed out.
Other than that, sounds awesome, can't wait. Can never get enough BioWare.
I hope they still let you pick your races.if they don't that's a major step backwords,it would be like mass effect 3 without the ability to import your saves.I love the ability to choose your race and the different starter stories that lead to ostagar.
