BioWare Launches Dragon Age II Website

Can’t wait until our August issue is in your hands for Dragon Age II details? BioWare launched the official Dragon Age II website this morning, providing a first look at concept art, a chance to sound off in the forums, and the opportunity to preorder the game. Also teased is the official debut trailer, which will hit the site on 8/17/10.

Intentionally keeping details sparse, BioWare gives the basic premise of the game on the newly launched website.

“You are one of the few who escaped the destruction of your home. Now, forced to fight for survival in an ever-changing world, you must gather the deadliest of allies, amass fame and fortune, and seal your place in history. This is the story of how the world changed forever. The legend of your Rise to Power begins now.”

BioWare boasts that the narrative will span a full decade, with your choices vastly changing how the game progresses. Dragon Age II will chronicle your rise from refugee to renowned champion. They also mention a revamped combat system that will give you the ability to “think like a general and fight like a Spartan.”

Sorry, that’s all the details you get. Until you read our cover story, that is.

  • I can't wait to hear more.  I hope Dragon Age II has a day/night cycle.  I always thought Origins should've had that.  It's absence certainly didn't ruin the game for me at all though.

  • Awesome! I loved Dragon Age Origins. It was very fun and the story is interesting. I feel in love with the characters and gameplay. I look forward to the August issue and Dragon Age II!

  • Dragon Age was awful. I'm soooooo mad right now. Where in the holy F is Elder Scrolls V?

  • The features list says "discover a whole realm in updated graphics..." Does this mean it will be more open-world? Or do you think it will stay the same type of exploration?

  • NEW GRAPHICS! NEW VISUAL STYLE! Sweet....

Loved the visual style in DOA but it was kind of...bland and the graphics where good but not great. But thank god I do not buy games from graphics because this game rocked my socks.

  • im really lookin forward to this and i like the new art a lot but doesn't it seem kinda soon for preorders? are they really only spending like a year on this? seems odd to me

  • Hopefully this one will be equally good on the consoles and PC.

  • I absolutely loved the first one.  I was really disappointed with the amount of support it received from Bioware.  They never attempted to fix the problems in the game.  They rushed out a broken patch to fix an achievement glitch and it took two patches after that just to get the game back to where it was.  I’ll probably end up getting this anyway.  I just hope Bioware takes the time to fix the game this time instead of being obsessed with DLC.  But we all know that isn’t going to happen.

  • "think like a general and fight like a spartan"

looks like theres going to be a deeper strategy system.

  • SWEET! just checked it out! can't wait!

  • I was actually disappointed with Dragon Age Origins.  The game was very slow paced and the graphics looked halfway done.  Similar to the look of a launch game.

  • I loved playing the original. Add in an open world and some online multiplayer co-op and I'll buy it now!

  • I think i will play the 1st game a 2nd time now because this has made me very excited about part 2!

  • I opened the website, and it's pretty bare bones on art and description. I guess I will have to wait for the August issue to arrive!
  • Loved the first one, just make it as long and as awesome of a story as the first one.  Oh and you can't forget the sex scenes :P.

  • Can't wait!

  • Good news!  I hope they make combat more fun this time around.  I'm sure this will be a first day purchase.

  • I dig the new art style, I hope that carries over into the final game.  It would be cool to see a fresh new look giving to that game.

  • Dragon Age: Origins looked like a game that didn't realize how much potential it had in it. After seeing Mass Effect's success I think this second DAO will embrace everything that Bioware is good at.

Personally I am easily pleased, so long as the graphics get a major facelift and the story is just as epic.

  • All the details sound superb. The concept art is beautiful.
