The lights are on
Xbox Live Arcade's annual Summer of Arcade promotion is kicking off this month. This year is a bit heavy (in our opinion) on well-known brands, but all of these titles look extremely promising based on what we've seen so far. The most notable for traditional console fans will be the isometric Tomb Raider adventure Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and the 2D Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. The Summer of Arcade title we are most excited about is Limbo, an eerie, disturbing side scroller that will recalls past breakout XBLA hits like Braid and The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom. Rounding out the lineup will be the gonzo arena shooter Monday Night Combat and Hydro Thunder: Hurricane, which marks the return of the long-forgotten arcade aquatic racing franchise.
While we don't have price points on all the games just yet, we do know that purchasing multiple Summer of Arcade titles will earn you some valuable rebates. If you buy three of the featured titles, you will receive a refund of 400 Microsoft Points ($5.00) and purchasing all five will get you a kickback of 1200 Microsoft Points ($15.00).
Here are the release dates for all of the Summer of Arcade titles:
Limbo - July 21
Hydro Thunder: Hurricane - July 28
Castlevania: Harmony of Despair - August 4
Monday Night Combat - August 11
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light - August 18
