Blood Gulch Revived For Halo: Reach

by Jeff Marchiafava on Jul 07, 2010 at 01:50 PM

Today Bungie celebrated Bungie Day (is that a thing?) by debuting a new Red vs Blue video from Rooster Teeth. What, that's not a good enough present for a fake holiday? Fine: The new video also showed off a new and improved Blood Gulch, and revealed a never before seen armor ability.

While the video features the classic RvB humor we're accustomed to, Blood Gulch itself has seen a series of improvements. The most obvious is the complete graphic overhaul, but the end also reveals that the map is now significantly larger, allowing you to go outside of the canyon. Don't worry though, everything you love about the old map is still there: The cliff for sniping from, the cave for...dying in, that weird nook that has no real purpose whatsoever.

As for that new armor ability? The video shows off a new hologram powerup, which creates a perfect replica of your character to use as a decoy (kind of like Total Recall, though you'll have to provide your own ridiculous Austrian accent). In the video the clone ran off into the fray by himself -- it's not clear if they will automatically move on the map, or if the player will have some control over them.

The end of the video reveals that players can "Go outside the canyon" at this year's Comic-Con. Does that mean a new playable demo? We hope so. In the meantime, check out the video below.
