To say I was blindsided by the papercraft craze would be an understatement. Papercraft made me look like an idiot for a night. Long story short, a friend showed me a partially constructed paper model of Darth Vader he had been working on. He handed it to me and asked me what I thought. I praised his artistic talents for a good minute or two. The room, which was filled with friends and family, grew deadly silent, and then erupted in laughter. After each person took a turn at mocking me (at least it felt like they did), they walked me through papercraft 101. One friend summed it up best by saying, "Papercraft is like getting free LEGOs that are a pain in the ass to assemble." You see, my friend didn't create the Vader model. He simply printed out the paper pieces.
