New GT 5 Trailer Shows Off Damage/Visual Effects

Here's a quick look at some of the visual effects being used in Gran Tursimo 5, which comes out for the PlayStation 3 this November. For those squemish about scratched paint, please look away now...

Check out this trailer showcasing the game's new damage, night/day transition, working headlights, cockpit view, and more for some of the game's standard cars. If this is how good the standard cars look, we can't imagine how gorgeous the fully rendered premium ones look.

Here's more info on GT 5 from E3.

  • one word for this game.....BEAUTIFUL

  • No tire tracks on dirt, crappy (take this as a warning to watch your language) damage...

I really think games like Grid passed GT by a while ago.
  • i have never bought a racing game in my life, but its this or hot pursuit.

  • I get chills every time i see the amazing visuals... GT FTW!

  • Looks great, but I thought some small details to be lacking, compared to most racers it still looks great, but I expect more from the people who used to raise the bar for presentation.

  • I'm glad that it's on PS cause it looks dumb..

  • Well a lot of Xbox fans are really jealous,LOL.  What are they going to say, that they have forza?  Forza is ***.

  • Is this the first GT to feature body damage modeling?

  • I am so pumped for this game!

  • I want now

  • Some of the screen did look good. but I agree with some on this that it doesn't seem that great. The damage was not there and when the cars were flipping all over the place, or bumping into each other.

  • It's too bad I fell out of love with Gran Turismo so long ago. I would like to have seen more of the "damage" in this video. The only time I could actually see it was when the NASCARS collided. All I saw in the others were cars flipping over each other in perfect angles to where I couldn't really see anything.

  • I got Forza last lear and i think the quality of these graphics aren't as good. So i'm just going to get hot pursuit this year

  • im not a fan of racing games, but i played grid and it was amazing. that looked like trash. damage was horible. the car roles and only has a dent in the top left door.

  • I knew it would be nothing but teenage FLAMERS on here dissing the game, finding something to complain about. Thank goodness the Game Informer staff knows what good graphics and physics are because this game looks great and I never brought a GT in my life but I will make this one my first...I wonder if the Game Informer staff completely ignore flamers or laugh their ass off at their supreme stupidity?

  • They call THAT damage? I had high hopes for this game until Forza 3 came along. Gran Turismo still has a long ways to go considering the insane amount of time going into this. As a original Gran Turismo fan (who fell in love with the NSX demo of GT1), Polyphony is already disappointing. The GT5 demo on PSN controls terrible - even feels like a step BACK from GT4. I love that it has rally racing but this game, as successful as it will undoubtedly be, is bound to be a letdown to racing fans. Especially with the amazing Forza 3 and the inevitable Forza 4 to keep us occupied. This is one Forza fan that is seriously (unbiasedly - I LOVE my PS3)unimpressed.

  • well I'm not too into racing, but his game does look visually stunning.

  • Looks cool, but what I really want is a new Burnout game, one that will improve upon and outdo Burnout:Revenge.

  • i dont see anything unique from the average racing game ... whatever!!

  • It's like this is too realistic!
