Microsoft Store Prices Kinect At $150

by Jeff Cork on Jun 22, 2010 at 03:15 AM

Microsoft finally revealed the name for Project Natal at last week’s E3—Kinect. That’s great and all, but it left out a considerable detail: How much is this thing going to cost? There’s been a lot of speculation about that detail, and a cluster of major retailers has it priced at about $150. Microsoft may have inadvertently confirmed that detail on its official store. Customers can go there now and preorder the unit for…$149.99.

Of course, this could all be a major coincidence, with retailers such as GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, and now Microsoft all arriving at the same make-believe price. It would be awfully strange if that were the case, though. It’s still not official until a Microsoft exec reveals the price to a stunned crowd, but if you’re interested in getting one of these things you may want to slide three $50s into an envelope and put it on a shelf somewhere. Just in case.
