Golden Sun: Dark Dawn E3 Trailer

The video announcing a new Golden Sun on DS that Nintendo showed at its E3 press conference is now available right here in high definition. The "high definition" part is critical, because somewhere in Nintendo's marketing division, a junior artist spent tens of minutes creating the background for this trailer.

This first glimpse of Golden Sun: Dark Dawn shows off dual-screen battle animations, stylus-driven puzzles, and plenty of walking through towns. It's possible that there are some spiky-haired protagonists, spunky teenage girls, and world-threatening evil waiting to be revealed as well, but this is what you get for now.

  • i remember the Golden Suns on the GBA. they were so good and very addicting. they were also very challenging to the point of never finishing it. i never played the first one but bought the second (thinking it was the first) and went so far only to face a creature that was far too powerful and i couldn't win...

i'm glad it's coming back and i'm much better in these types of games now so this will be fun.

  • I love this series!

  • Looks pretty cool... but why can't they make another earthbound.

  • YES! aaah these games are so fun! i remember beating the first one and almost beating the second one. now im going to go buy them again lol just to refresh my memory xD

  • The upgrade to 3D looks kind of lame they should have stuck with the classic 16bit style.

  • I loved the old Golden Sun, played it all the time on the GBA, ever since I heard there was going to be a DS game, I was impatiently waiting for this years E3.

  • loved the first two. i wonder if you can transfer your previous data

  • I'm afraid that my only purpose for getting this will be for nostalgia. And Motoi Sakuraba.

The Lost Age was really difficult (epic puzzles!), and I hope this is much harder.

  • Sigh. Looks like I'm buying a DS.

  • I've been waiting for this game for a number of years. I played both the GBA titles and found them to be great. The puzzles were nice, the battles were simplistic but in a good way, and the dijinn gave it that kind of pokemon collection touch without going crazy.

  • **yaaaaaaaaaaay**

  • Hm.. a bit disappointing visually. I agree with Colton: They should have stuck with the 16-bit style.

  • glaD they're back I loved the series I beat both games and had ALLL the dijin (even the ones carried over from the first 1) : )

  • I really loved playing these, I still remember getting my first GBA as a ten year old boy and the first Golden Sun was what I bought with it, never regretted the purchase.

  • Looks like a winner to me.  I was playing 'The Lost Age' just the other day.

  • Hmmmm... I've never played this series, but it looks fun.

  • it's about time this game is coming to the ds

  • Man I wish I got into the series, played part of the original but never got into it even though these types of RPG's are my favorites.

Hopefully this one is good because I really want it. Let's also hope it doesn't fail like the DS version of the Lunar series. Man that was a BIG disappointment for me.

  • this serires is awsome.....isaacs the best

  • Glad to see this series returning. Nintendo doesn't have enough traditional JRPG's, really (though they're publishing a few right now, courtesy of Monolith and Mistwalker). And I still remember the first time they showed off GS for the Game Boy Advance - man it was stunning. With the Mode 7 battle scenes and pre-rendered sprites, it was mind blowing.

Though I'm a little surprised to hear the game isn't called "Golden Sun: Dark Sunrise". Are they stopping that thing where DS games need to have a subtitle that uses a 'D' and an 'S'? Like Castlevania: DAWN of SORROW? Or Ninja Gaiden: DRAGON SWORD? Or Fire Emblem: DRAGON'S SHADOW? Peggle: Dual Shot? Etc. etc. etc.
