Pikmin For Wii Still Being Worked On

Back at E3 a couple of years ago, fans of Nintendo's quirky strategy game Pikmin got a great burst of hype when Miyamoto let slip in a Q&A session that a new Pikmin game was in development for Wii. Today at the same yearly Q&A session, Miyamoto assured us that the game is still in the works despite a complete lack of new info.

The question came from Wired's Chris Kohler. Miyamoto laughed upon hearing it and seemed a little exasperated, explaining that he had made an offhand comment about the game, and fan's expectations blew up.

Despite his weariness, Miyamoto said that the game is still in the works. Nintendo chose not to show it this year for fear that it would be overshadowed by the huge number of new game announcements they had and the 3DS hardware.

Miyamoto jokingly finished his response by giving a request to writers in the audience: "Please don't make this the top story this evening." Well...technically it's not the top story...so we're still cool, right?

lol, considering the crazy exicitement and glee for the amazing stuff that was revealed, our minds would've probably blown up if they had revealed Pikmin!

agreed, but it would be nice to get this game back. This game probably isn't as popular as the other games, but I'm a sucker for any smart rts types like this.

The problem with this is the fact that I believe Pikmin 2 has already been released in Japan for Wii awhile ago. So, Is the game entirely new or is it just the tranlated version with America perks or cons threw in.

It's for Wii? Aw. I was hoping it would be for 3DS. Portable Pikmin would kick ass.
