New Silent Hill Hits 360 And PS3 In 2011, Nabs Veteran Composer

by Dan Ryckert on Jun 16, 2010 at 01:14 PM

Teased at Gamer's Night in April, Konami has officially announced Silent Hill 8 (working title) for release on 360 and PS3. We still don't know much, but the game's director promises an "evolution of (the franchise's) core combat."

It appears that your protagonist will be a convict named Murphy Pendleton that's being transported on a prison bus. At one point, he escapes the bus and flees into the rainy forest. A teaser trailer showed him exploring the town of Silent Hill where something is (surprise!) definitely amiss.

Also revealed was the game's composer, Daniel Licht. He's no stranger to penning music for tense entertainment, as his previous works include Hellraiser, Children of the Corn, and Showtime series Dexter.

This new installment in the Silent Hill series will be released in 2011.
