Link Comes Out Swinging In Skyward Sword Trailer

Outside of Mario, no one has starred in more classic games than The Legend of Zelda's Link, and now our pointy eared hero is back in a new Wii title, Skyward Sword, that relies heavily on exacting motion control made possible by the Wii Motion Plus peripheral. Check out this E3 trailer to see the game in action. Outside of the new control scheme, the game seems firmly in the Zelda tradition, and it looks great to boot with an impressionistic graphical style.

  • This game is going to rock. Plus the art direction is perfect.  It has all the uniqueness of Windwaker but is focused on the realism of Twilight Princess. It doesn't get too cheesy and "big-head" mode like WW did and doesn't get too realistic and unbelievable like TP.  This game is just going to work.

  • i cannot express how much i love this game! the art style is so unique and very similar to Wind Waker's. and Link's pants are crazy as hell! so freaking baggy! i can't wait to see more of this one as the game approaches its release.

  • i love the new impressionistic look, i think its a great way to go with he Wii. this game seems just great, and i can't wait to play it. also, i really dig his outfit. i like his chain mail looking under-tunic and the pants tucked into the boots. maybe poor Link finally got tired of tights
  • They seem to heads toward a more of a cartoon feel from Wind Waker while keeping the same structure of Twilight Princess. I'm staying on the fence on this, yet I would eventually buy this anyway.

  • yes the artwork is sweet. I am not a fan of the forest though

  • this looks sweet. I only finished half of twilight princess even though it was good because i didnt really like it. I thought it was a bit too realistic and even a bit scary. This looks pretty fun though.

  • Epic soundtrack is epic.

  • Looks nice. Now if only the controls can be the same.

  • Love the Leap of Faith Link did at the end of the trailer.

  • The graphics look great and kind of crappy at the same time. I love the look of Link and most of the monsters(like a mix between twilight princess and majora's mask), but the grass om the world and stuff is really really flat. I hope to have a wii pretty soon and from the trailer, this looks like a must buy.

  • still think twilights gritter mature looked was better. hate nintendo thinks they always need to appeal to just fanboys and thing when releasing games.

  • I think that this was a pretty impressive trailer.  I got one question though:  In the trailer, Link pins down a heart with an arrow.  Will this keep the heart from vanishing possibly?

  • It looks like it has good gameplay but the graphics look meh. Hopefully they will improve over time.

  • I hope there is a left-handed option for folks like myself that stick strongly to the 'Link is a lefty' that made me play Twilight Princess on the GC instead of the wii (which it was designed for anyway)

In one of the videos though, I saw someone holding the wiimote in his left hand, so I can hope!

    It looks absolutely amazing though.

  • Just now noticed how fantastic the art style looks. Can't wait to get my hands on this game.

  • hmmm...I wonder if the order of games at the begining of the trailer has anything to do with the timeline order/placement. Although, the earlier news that the story has to do with the beginning of the Master Sword may nullify that idea.
  • Pretty. But with the same annoying "ooooohhhhHH" "AhhhhhHHH" groans that have plagued previous Zelda titles.

  • Man i love it when new Zelda games come out.
