Nintendo Reveals The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Nintendo kicked off its E3 2010 press conference with the first showing of a brand new Zelda title for the Wii, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Shigeru Miyamoto was on hand to demonstrate the game, which uses motion control and the Wii Motion Plus peripheral for a control scheme that emulates hold a real sword and shield. Sword swinging and other motions in the game are performed with minimal button presses. At the time of this writing, no release date has been announced, but it will hit the Wii sometime in 2011.

  • Any motion controls in a Zelda game are lame. Make new games that use this feature, and leave the classics alone.

  • I'll still play this. Even though the demo was...lackluster, to say the least.

  • More garbage. Thanks for another lame ass E3, Nintendo.

  • I can't wait!!!
  • Did people cry this time?

  • wow the demo sucked. Lag, sukie controls............WHAT THE  F*CK ARE YOU DOING TO ZELDA, NINTENDO!? WHY MUST YOU DO THIS!!!!!!!???????

  • Wow, I've not seen this much hatred towards the Wii since Kanye West declared Beyonce the best female singer of all time while interrupting Taylor Swift's award speech.  If you totally hate Nintendo, the Wii, or anything, then don't say anything at all.

  • ah, i feel so bad for Mr. Miyamoto. i really think there was wireless interference. it was frustrating to watch, and its a shame it happened.

  • motion controlled zelda? lame. just wanna play for the story

  • I agree with the other comments, and I haven't even seen the demo.  Why would you use motion control for Zelda??   I have a Wii, too, but I play my PS3 instead...better games.  Stupid Nintendo

  • Need to see some gameplay, I missed the briefing.

  • graphics look hooooooorible and the control issues were funny

  • Awesome demo but it was a little glitchy, I felt bad for Miyamoto.

  • Gee other than the fact that the game release date changed, doesn't this post read exactly like it was cut and pasted from the post describing Twilight Princess back when that was announced at E3? Everything describing what this Zelda games does sounds exactly like what was promised for that game too... I wonder if it will work better(unlikely) or if the Wii controls will be roughly unresponsive(highly possible).

  • I Mean Jesus christ people...chill, you all sound like a bunch of stuck up fans. You should all be happy that There is even gonna be another zelda game.

  • why is everyone bitching about the controls? there is such a thing as wireless interference! and i would embrace a Zelda motion controlled game any day! are the haters here are the ones that are PS360 fanboys that need to find something better to do than complain about a game they don't want!

i love the new graphics. kind of like the Wind Waker style crossed with the tradition one! very unique and a welcome to the series.
  • I can't wait, very exited.

  • Very awesome, I feel terrible for Mr. Miyamoto though, stupid wireless interference. All of you complaining are dumb, Nintendo had the best conference so far.
