Miyamoto: No Zelda Until 2011

by Jeff Marchiafava on Jun 15, 2010 at 06:54 AM

The new Zelda game looks great. But fans of the series are going to have to wait longer than expected to get their hands on it.

As Shigeru Miyamoto finished his error-prone demonstration of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, (his Wii Remote was having aiming problems, which they attributed to wireless signal interference), he revealed that the game wouldn't be released until some time in 2011. This runs contrary to what Nintendo executive Satoru Iwata said in January, when he told fans the new Zelda title would be out by the holiday season. But don't lose hope yet: The fact that game will be playable on the show floor this week may suggest that fans won't have to wait too long into the new year before setting out on Link's latest quest. We'll bring you more on Skyward Sword when we get a chance to try it out for ourselves.
