Bad Company 2 Onslaught Mode Details Announced

Electronic Arts has announced the release and pricing details of its upcoming Onslaught four-player co-op mode for Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Starting June 22, players can throw down 800 Microsoft points (or $9.99 for those of us who use American currency) on Xbox Live or PlayStation network to download the first batch of paid DLC for the popular shooter.

EA also announced that new Kit Shortcuts will be available soon on consoles as well. For a small fee, players too lazy to earn their arsenal can unlock all the weapons, gadgets, and specializations for a particular kit. These workarounds will cost you $6.99 per kit, or $19.99 for all the kits plus the seven vehicle unlocks. Though players who buy the upgrades will unlock every weapon, they'll still need to earn their rank, pins, and insignias. Xbox 360 players can look for the easy way out starting June 16, with PlayStation 3 gamers gaining access to the shortcut on June 22.

  • Maybe they should fix the terrible rubber banding.

  • very nice....I will prob get the kit shortcuts :P

What a *** retarded disgrace. I guess money can really buy you anything.

  • That's like trying to buy currency on any MMO; it's not going to bode well with everyone else you play with.

  • let me be the first to complain so we can get it over with. Why should we pay for something that should already be in the game? You know you're paying to unlock stuff already on the disc. Why is it so expensive? Why does 360 get it first? MW2 is better and BC2 sucks. There it's done.

For real though, this should bring a a few more hours of enjoyment and I'm excited for it to come out!

  • Will game developers please please please stop copy paste the Gears of War Horde mode into their games? Please? This is getting ridiculous. It seems like every shooter now absolutely has to have a version of that game mode. How about they make some more maps instead of just allowing people with VIP codes to unlock the maps that are already on their disk?

Or do something original for a change. Besides, what's the point of something like Onslaught in a game like BFBC2? If you aren't already playing four player Co-op in every match then you aren't playing the game right. And you are probably getting your ass handed to you on a regular basis as well. This is ridiculous, all it's doing is taking away the enemy players and replacing them with bots.

  • Awesome! I can't wait to get this new mode! BFBC2 is the best!

  • Gay....earn your freaking weapon kits like everyone else!

  • There comes a time when new players are at a disadvantage, (like now) when not only do they have a lack of experience working against them, but also they are faced up against with people with superior weapons and gadgets. I'm all for them being able to buy their guns if they want to.

I won't be getting this though, unlocking new guns is half the fun for me.

  • Can't wait for co-op...but I absolutely hate the idea of being able to buy kits, that's just lame as hell.

  • I thought that unlocking all the guns was a pretty fun part of the multipplayer experience. It just seems like a lame idea to be able to buy them. For most of the kits i usually use the gun that was given to me in the first place with the exception of the m60 so good luck to all the newbs(suckers) that fork out 20.00.

  • Still no new maps...dissappointed...and returning to MW2

  • yeah me soldier keeps rubber banding almost the whole entire match. its really annoying, i cant even play it now

  • Funny... the kit upgrade purchases remind me of buying currency on MMOs. And the whole F2P structure...

Laaaaame when you see it come into an FPS... I guess there goes the "BC2 isn't a money-grab" argument.

  • I'll stick with MW2

  • Ugh, no way in hell I'm paying for the Kit Shortcuts, it'll kill the replay value. I'll go and by Onslaught, but now I want new maps to play BC2 on.

  • why would you need to pay for a kit shortcut? you can get all the weapons and vehicle unlocks super quick. i maxed out every class within my first week of getting the game.

  • When EA announces a "Good multiplayer" mode, lemme know.

Because what got shipped with the game ain't it.

  • They cant let MW2 get all the $$$ they got to charge you BF2 guys for something.
