Weekend Warrior 06/04/10

by Annette Gonzalez on Jun 04, 2010 at 02:30 PM

Red Dead Redemption reigns supreme, and it also looks like we have several cases of World Cup fever this weekend. Read on to find out what else we're playing this weekend, then head over to the comments section to share your plans.

Bertz: I've got World Cup fever, so I'll probably line up a few quick matches of FIFA World Cup 2010 between hunting missions in Red Dead Redemption to get the USMNT off to a hot start. If the rain doesn't take over Saturday I also plan to do some bike riding around Minneapolis before I crack open a brew.

Kato: The only thing standing between me and finishing up Red Dead is World Cup Fever. I've got it so bad that not only have I started playing the FIFA World Cup game, but I'm also starting a club season in the regular FIFA title. That being said, I do expect to sink some time into Red Dead. I've been alternating my playing time: One session I'll do nothing but sidequests and dicking around, and the next I make sure is dedicated to advancing the story.

Bryan: Most of my Saturday will consist of a wedding of one of the Mrs.'s old high school friends. Hopefully, I'll be able to squeeze in some Red Dead on Sunday.

Jeff M: This weekend I hope to finish up Red Dead Redemption, and spend some more time causing chaos in multiplayer with the GI posse. By chaos, I mean using throwing knives to assassinate Tim Turi's donkey. That never gets old.

Tim:
I plan on tackling as much Red Dead Redemption as humanly possible this weekend. I finally tried out some of the freeroam, and was surprised by how satisfying hunting animals was. On top of that, I plan to take a crack at the Darkspawn Chronicles DLC in Dragon Age: Origins, and maybe even some of the expansion pack. Red Dead!

Phil: With plenty of others around the office and on Twitter finishing up the single-player story in Red Dead Redemption, I'm desperate to get to the end and see what everyone's talking about. Apparently it's awesome! Assuming I wrap that up, I'll also probably jump into some online action. Saturday will be World of Warcraft raid night, as usual. Now that my guild has taken down the Lich King, we're going to try out some of the Icecrown boss battles on heroic mode. I'll also be stopping in the office over the weekend to spend some time with a handheld review game that I can't talk about yet. Secrets.

Dan: I finally hit 100 percent on Red Dead's single player, so I might dive into multiplayer for a bit this weekend. Now that I'm done with that huge quest, I might also have some time to jump back into 3D Dot Game Heroes or start going after the green stars in Mario Galaxy 2. Relaxing at the lake was great last weekend, and I'll probably do a repeat of that if the weather is right tomorrow.

Sean: I have 3D Dot Game Heroes now.  And a grill.  Good times.

Annette: Red Dead Redemption. I'm about 25 percent in, more than I expected considering I keep skipping storyline missions for side tasks. There are very few games that draw me in enough to go after 100 percent completion, and after spending time with Red Dead, I think I may just have to go for it. Thus, I plan to spend a whole lot of time roaming the frontier, completing story missions, and avoiding ninja cougars this weekend to get to 100 percent before E3. A good friend of mine just bought a copy of the game so we may form a posse with a few others and jump into multiplayer as well. In between I might throw in a quick game of Snoopy Flying Ace. Don't hate. It's awesome.

That's it for us. What are you playing this weekend?
