Mass Effect 3 Will Bring The Funny

by Ben Reeves on Jun 02, 2010 at 12:19 PM

Some Mass Effect fans might have noticed that Mass Effect 2 was slightly more somber in tone from the first Mass Effect. According to BioWare this was intentional. It was all set up for the third entry in the trilogy which will be a more lighthearted, punchline-packed space epic.

OXM recently ran an interview with Mass Effect director Casey Hudson, where the developer explained, “The second story in a trilogy is where you traditionally end up in a fairly dark place. The third story is where you try and bring some fun and lightness back into it. One thing we tried to do with Mass Effect 2 was as well as bringing in the more mature stuff, we also tried to bring in a lot more humor so that we can go to these places without making it an overbearing experience…Mass Effect 3 is going to be the epic conclusion...so, a lot more darkness but also a lot more humor.”

As long as Mass Effect continues to follow in the footsteps of the Star Wars trilogy and not the Rush Hour trilogy, we’ll be happy. We don’t want to see Shepard and Grunt dressing up like geisha in order to infiltrate a moon base, BioWare.
