First Look at Pro Evolution Soccer 2011

by Matthew Kato on Jun 01, 2010 at 11:30 AM

The next installment in Konami's famed soccer franchise – Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 – has just been announced, and the publisher/developer is airing some initial screens and details about the game. The new Pro Evo is coming out for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable this fall.

One of the major improvements Konami is touting for Pro Evo 2011 is a power gauge for shots and passes – which, if I'm not mistaken – has been in previous titles in the franchise. Regardless, it'll be a handy tool that should make it easier to control your shots and passes, and prevent you from always skying the ball over the crossbar. Konami is also promising other gameplay improvements and controls designed to give players more freedom over controlling their guys on the pitch.

Once regarding as the one and only soccer game to play, the Pro Evo franchise has recently fallen behind EA Sport's FIFA series. This has been in part because the gameplay of the past Pro Evos have felt like they were exactly the same as the old PS2-era titles. Perhaps Konami's promises for Pro Evolution 2011 will finally bring the franchise into the future.
