The lights are on
Sony is getting set to push 3D gaming to PlayStation 3 gamers this year. Yesterday, the company’s plans became clearer with the announcement that three popular PSN downloadable titles will be receiving updates that allow them to be played in 3D.Sony Japan revealed that Wipeout HD, Star Strike HD, and Pain will get updates on June 10th that allow the games to be played in 3D. While the 3D updates for Wipeout and Star Strike will be free for owners, Pain users will have to pay a one-time 300 yen (approximately $3.30 USD) surcharge to download the new 3D functionality.Sony has also announced a Bravia TV promotion in Japan where consumers who buy a new 3D compatible set will received a code that gives them Wipeout HD, Star Strike HD, and Pain for free, as well as an exclusive 3D Motorstorm 2 demo.

Wow really, Sony, you just love to compete with Nintendo.
I love some of the keywords there: "weird looking glasses, headaches,"
THE FUTURE CONAN?!!
Sony announce 3d before nintendo, and the motion thing ps2 have it with the camera, So that mean nintendo is copying Sony from the 3D stuff, and Microsoft is copying Sony about the camera motion thing, because PS2 does have camera motion games. TAKE THAT.
I'm guessing you're VERY new to gaming because Sony has been talking about this for months now. In fact, they were one of the first ones on board with 3D, through their TVs and the PS3. So really, they're not "competing with Nintendo", they're trying to bring in the concept of 3D gaming. Remember, Sony's announcement of supporting 3D and Nintendo's announcement were months apart. Think before you write something.
Imagine your friends coming over and finding you sitting on the couch wearing those ridiculous glasses. You will be laughed at.
3D technology has never really impressed me. Maybe it will be different now, but it seems like a bunch of extra effort and money for too small a payoff. Bring on the hologram video games!
It seems with every new console or technology improvement, they bring this retarded racer back from the grave. I will not be getting this.
looks odd, not so sure i want it.
Granted, it would be awesome to play maybe Ratchet and Clank in 3D (only because it's so colorful and poppy and already jumps off the screen), I think this 3D phase we're going through should just die...
...Well How much better is the 3D on a 3D capable TV compared to a standard HD TV?
I do want to check out 3D games but will 3D on a starndard HD TV look bad in comparison to a 3D compatible TV? Hows this all going to work?
Eh, everybody's copying me. My firsts:
3D - For years I've been throwing stuff at people's faces, or just running up to people really fast.
Motion controls - When my band plays live, my drumming forces the crowd to jump up and down and headbang.
Dual screens - The back door of my house had two screens way before the DS.
Make Wipeout multiplatform plz....
Nope, I'm not very new to gaming. I've been gaming all my life.
SCREW YOU 3D
Well, it looks like Sony is actually and officially making games for the PS3. Don't know about this.
...yeah. Kinda makes me want to puke too, Chris.
After getting this update, I will play a game in 3D for a few minutes, get bored of the gimmick, switch back to 2D, and never use the feature again.
