StarCraft II Beta Extended One Week

Folks that were hoping to show appreciation for Army veterans this Memorial Day by playing as Terran marines in the StarCraft II beta are in luck. The beta, which was originally slated to end on May 31, is being extended by one week.

In a recent update to their StarCraft II community website, Blizzard said that the beta is being extended to June 7 to “prepare for the final phase of the beta testing.” After that the team will buckle down and perfect its product ramping up to the game’s official July 27 release date.

  • SO EXCITED FOR THIS GAME!

  • That game looks fun, I wonder which will be better, Starcraft or Dawn of War.

  • woot!

  • Very cool for everyone enjoying the Beta.

  • Awesome. I am addicted to it like snow. ;)

  • never tried it.

  • I guess this cool if I played it.....

  • cool

  • Just release already.

  • That is really awesome, I had to work a lot and didn't get much time in with the beta, that extra week will be chock full of getting beaten and loving every minute of it.

  • They've only had what... 12 years to "perfect" the final product? Even so, I hated the first one. That said, I loved Warcraft III. Unless they can change the formula and make it interesting, I have no intention of getting this game.

And where the hell is Diablo III?!

  • I have to say, StarCraft II is shaping up rather well. I've been beta testing this game since it was announced, and Blizzard has once again captivated my attention in a genre (RTS), that I am absolutely no good at. Controls feel more streamlined, while maintaining the familiar feel from the first game. Graphics are a major improvement, though again I need to point out that the graphics from the first one were stellar when it first came out. Maps are well-designed and balanced. They gave me a feeling of true immersion, and win or lose, I always enjoyed my play time. Only thing I can really conceivably complain about are the minor glitches that are present in all betas, no single player taste, and the removal of some of my more favorite units. All in all though, very promising, and I'm glad I pre-ordered the Collecter's, as it has some neat swag.

  • NIce

  • I'm glad it got extended for one more week.  I'm gonna get my fill of Starcraft II.  I just wish my PC could be upgraded to a gaming rig.  It's running the game on medium settings which is fine but I can't imagine how amazing it must look on high settings.

  • My boyfriend is excited that it got extended another week. I'm not...I wouldn't mind some help cleaning up around apartment.

  • Starcraft 2 is looking great. I played it all this weekend since i had nothing better to do. Playing competitive 1v1 then custom games on and off. Pretty fun, but its still missing the personal factor that im absolutely sure that single player campaign is going to rock! Im a big fan of the Warhammer 40k series, infact i have two books on my desk here. But theres no 40k games announced or really live-up-able to the stories so im considering this game much much more being a big fan of Warcraft 3's bnet.

What im basicly saying is. THIS GAME IS GREAT :D

  • I got a key a while back... never used it though x.x
