Harmonix has been playing it cute with its upcoming Rock Band 3, releasing a logo here, a claim that the latest installment will change the way we look at video games there. This morning the company released an Xbox 360 demo for Green Day: Rock Band that actually releases a bit of information about the direction that Rock Band 3 will be taking.

After completing the demo, which lets bands play “Welcome to Paradise” and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” offline, users are greeted with a coming soon screen for Rock Band 3. The interesting bit comes with the addition of another icon, which is clearly a keyboard. (Destructoid user JoeCamNet snapped the photo from his screen.) That certainly opens up a wide variety of music, or at least it will make playing songs feel a bit more authentic. Nothing took us out of the Rock Band moment more than tapping out the piano ending on Nine Inch Nails’ “March of the Pigs” on our guitars.
