The lights are on
Harmonix has been playing it cute with its upcoming Rock Band 3, releasing a logo here, a claim that the latest installment will change the way we look at video games there. This morning the company released an Xbox 360 demo for Green Day: Rock Band that actually releases a bit of information about the direction that Rock Band 3 will be taking. After completing the demo, which lets bands play “Welcome to Paradise” and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” offline, users are greeted with a coming soon screen for Rock Band 3. The interesting bit comes with the addition of another icon, which is clearly a keyboard. (Destructoid user JoeCamNet snapped the photo from his screen.) That certainly opens up a wide variety of music, or at least it will make playing songs feel a bit more authentic. Nothing took us out of the Rock Band moment more than tapping out the piano ending on Nine Inch Nails’ “March of the Pigs” on our guitars.

yeparoo thats a keeeeeeeeeeeeeey board
Yes, I pray this means more Children of Bodom, the only band worth playing music with a keyboard :)
sweet, count me in.
Now, Harmonix, I expect MGMT!
Perhaps now Killer Queen will be a bit more playable...
This doesn't have me interested at all. The whole music game craze has been dead for me and my friends for a long time now and this isn't gonna get me playing again.
hmmmm, Stratovarius anyone? perhaps some Kalmah (which is better than Bodom)
YES KEYBOARDS WOOOOOOOO...SEND IN CHILDREN OF BODOM, STRATOVARIUS, SONATA ARCTICA, SYMPHONY X...YEAH LETS DO THIS!
soon no one will have room in their homes to do anything anymore.
@Drew Dream Theater has a kick ass keyboard player. I can see some of their songs being that very hard one on expert at the end of the game.
Interesting. My only curiosity is if it will be a fully fledged board for which to learn on or just a handful of colored buttons. I vote they make a fully functioning keyboard but then color the buttons to help train and divide the difficulties.
Wow I hope it wont look like the little kid keyboards with the 5 big colored keys. Would be awesome if RB3 could do MIDI to USB input with real keyboards or something.
what if it's not a keyboard and they're just trying to bring back the keytar?
Boom. Lightbulb! Stevie Wonder songs! Now I'm psyched.
Baaaadaaaass. I've been waiting and hoping for keyboard to join RB <3 <3 <3
Yet another expensive piece of plastic.
