Rockstar: Parents That Buy GTA For Kids Are Terrible
To say that Grand Theft Auto is a game series that has spurred controversy would be an understatement. GTA is to the industry now what Doom was in the '90s, and lots of talk tends to swirl around games with such violence. Rockstar’s Lazlow, who you may know as the GTA universe’s charismatic DJ, spoke his mind regarding what he thinks about parents who buy their children GTA games.
When the BBC asked Lazlow what he feels about accusations that GTA games and titles like them increase violence in people, he had a lot to say. “Our games are not designed for young people,” he explained. “If you're a parent and buy one of our games for your child you're a terrible parent. We design games for adults because we're adults. There's a lot of kids games out there that we're not interested in playing. Just like you enjoy watching movies and TV shows with adult themes and language and violence, that's the kind of thing we seek to produce.”
Rockstar creates games that are for adults, by adults, and Lazlow couldn’t have been any more clear here. Only time will tell if Red Dead Redemption’s Wild West setting tapers the infamous Rockstar controversy that they experienced with GTA, Manhunt, and Bully.
