Pokémon Black/White Concept Art, New Details Added To Official Site

A few days ago we revealed the starter Pokémon that will appear in the upcoming fifth-gen Pokémon titles Black and White. Unfortunately the critters received a less than stellar response. Perhaps the other art and screenshots available on the games' updated official website will garner more excitement.

First off, we can now identify the starters with their proper names (names which will most likely be localized if/when we see Black and White stateside). From left to right:

Tsutaja: Grass type (classification: grass snake Pokémon), ability: Overgrow, height: 0.6m, weight: 8.1kg

Pokabu: Fire type (classification: fire pig Pokémon), ability: Blaze, height: 0.5m, weight: 9.9kg

Mijumaru: Water type (classification: sea otter Pokémon), ability Torrent, height: 0.5m, weight 5.9kg

The news section of the site shows off Zorua and its evolution into Zoroark, it's pretty cool looking. Moving on.

Here are your starter characters. Choose between male and female teens. Good thing they're wearing comfortable shoes because they'll traverse the giant landscape below.

Black and White takes place in the new 3D-centric Isshu region. Check out one of the towns you'll encounter, the booming metro area named Hiun City.

To get a closer look at the tiny screenshots sprinkled on each of the pages, check out the official website.

Excited now?

  • I don't know, the starters are still really stupid. Zoroark looks pretty cool, though.

  • too bad the US won't see this coming out for a year. those slow translators. i, for one, cannot wait for it to be released.

  • Fire Pig! Hell Yeah!

  • Wow. This is already getting me pumped.

  • Not as excited as I thought I'd be.

  • The dumbest one is the water one it looks like a doll

  • Zorua and zoroark look cool but, the starters look retarded.

  • sounds good cant wait to see and hear more bout the game.......ill be gettn first day (whenever that might be(next year)) just cause its pokemon and ive played/owned all the versions since Red/Blue...... ill probably choose the grass snake

  • meh

  • Basically you can count on me booting my starter out of my main party as soon as possible.

Give me Charmander any day ^_^
  • this game looks awesome!

  • gimme tsutaja

  • I'm glad a pig is a starter

  • I wanna see the evolutions of the starters before I judge them. After all getting them to the last stage is the way to go unless the person prefers keeping the pokemon at 1st or 2nd stage.

  • That otter is ADORABLE.  Also, what is up with the trucker hat on the girl trainer?  Yuck.

  • Pokemon black/white should be the cataclysm of the pokemon universe.   Meaning some kind of disaster should wipe out civilization as it is known and force the world to  digress to a more primitive life style.  All the pokemon become extinct except the original 150 but the 3D effects and bigger world should stay, but they should throw in some destruction.  Yea I could totally write a pokemon story line that could be made into a crappy action movie.  Hollywood here I come!

  • I like the otter the best based on the principle that it's an otter alone. But I'm reserving judgement until I see the final evolutions of the three to decide which is truly the best of them.

  • I like the fire pig!

  • One thing I can say, I don't think the grass one needs the feet. It would look better without them.

  • Man I saw that place in one of the movies. It was a messed up city. Anyway ima stgart with the fire pig, I know they all suck but fire types are going to be the more effective against earlier gym leaders, they always are.
