Take A Peek At Bad Company 2’s New Co-op Mode

At long last, co-op is coming to Battlefield: Bad Company. EA has announced that a new mode, called onslaught, will be hitting Bad Company 2 soon on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. Interestingly, there’s no mention of a PC version in the news release. What is onslaught all about? The accompanying trailer shows a lot of guys shooting at other guys, which isn’t exactly helpful. Fortunately, EA was also kind enough to pass along some details.

In onslaught mode, up to four players team up to complete objectives in retooled versions of the Valparaiso, Atacama Desert, Isla Inocentes, and Nelson Bay maps. Each of the maps has a specific objective, and players have to work together against AI to fulfill those tasks. For example, Atacama Desert has a vehicular focus while Nelson Bay is more about a traditional assault. Areas have been tweaked to change up time of day, add vehicles, and more. The mode will have its own dedicated leaderboards, so players will be able to see how their tactics stack up against the world at large.

The news release danced right around the game’s VIP program, which has been the way that players have been able to acquire free postlaunch DLC. Either that was an oversight, or players will have to crack open their wallets if they want to check out onslaught. We’ll let you know when we get that information.

  • Finally. Now I don't have to waste my days just playing Rush.

  • wtf Dice? How come PC hasn't been getting any love...

  • seems cool, bad company 2 has literally stolen me away from Modern Warfare 2 when it first came out

  • Sweet as long as its not to pricy I will get it.

  • it's like objective based horde mode

  • that was a pretty intense trailer

  • PC!  PC!!  If it has co-op, it's the only reason my two best friends will buy it!  PC!  PC!!!!

  • thats awesome....hopefully its free like the majority of their upgrades..but either way, this is another reason this game shines over MW2 - they add experiences rather than fixing game altering glitches

  • Dude I'll totally check that out. I skipped any horde mode incarnations in any other games so this will be my first run at it. As for the trailer, I liked the one with Queens of The Stone Age in it better. I swear I laugh every time I see that guy rag doll out from the buggy in the street.
  • I know i need to play this game. But I know when I do, it's gonna tear me away from MW2.

  • it better be free......

  • The more DLC for BC2 the better.

  • Is this free? If it is BFBC2 is THE AWESOMENESS!!!!!

  • ppl are already clamoring for it to be free? c'mon folks, ante up. this is worth paying for. thx dice for the fan service. can't wait.

  • What's up with no love for PC gamers?

  • horde mode. BBC2 style. obviously. duh.

  • Mod
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!

I am willing to crack open my wallet for this. The VIP stuff is a joke any way. It just unlocks stuff already on the disc. I only ask that DICE wait at least a month after Red Dead Redemption comes out before releasing this. I can't play two things at once!

What are you guys reading that you think this is a horde mode? Sounds more like the co-op on MW2.
  • This sounds like fun. I'm still a much bigger fan of MW2 than BC2, but once my brother gets a copy of BC2 I'm sure we could have some fun with this mode.

  • Sweet this looks awesome. Something to break the monotony of Rush and Conquest! Dice that is jacked up what u did to PC though.
  • I play it on PC, where is the love?

This game is already coop, it's one side vs the other, I don't see the difference except now it's a smaller team on each side.  This game is fun but it needs more vehicle maps, or at least more maps with heli's, prefererably more more than one on each side so you can have some air battles.
