Pokémon Black, White Starters Revealed

Earlier this week silhouettes surfaced of the elusive starter Pokémon that will appear in the fifth-gen iteration currently titled Black and White. While there have been tons of speculation of which type each represents, we now know the answer.

Images from Japanese magazine CoroCoro have surfaced unveiling the fire, water, and grass types named Tsutaja, Pokabu, and Mijumaru respectively. There's no telling which goes by what name at this point. We also figure these names will be localized once the games inevitably get brought to the states.

Other details worth mentioning: sounds like the region we will traverse will go by the name Isshu. Also, our trainers seem to be all grown up. That's all she wrote. We'll provide more information as it comes.

  • Eh...Dont really like them.

  • I played Red, Blue, and Leaf Green, but I'm not sure about all the new Pokemon.  Maybe I'm just old school, but I liked the original 151.

  • Hmm, the grass one's okay...... also if they are grown up, the I gotta say, the female trainer is kinda hot.... oh wait, ****it, the one on the right is a guy, I meant the one on the left.
  • Meh, Pokemon are starting to just look weirder and weirder. Don't really like these ones at all.

  • darn more names i can barely pronounce. what ever happened to the simple named pokemon with what type they are in the name? i guess im just an old school 90's kid.

  • @TheOpethAffinity

I agree, I used to love Pokemon as a kid, but getting 200 new ones every year just got out of hand.

That being said, these new pokemon aren't that cool.

    Turtwig FTW!

  • I liked when there were only 101.

........ Exactly how did it go from 101 to.... 3000 or whatever the hell?

  • @ jack_raid40

Didn't they start with 151?  I may be wrong then.

  • pokemon got really retarded when they added more than 150... i liked it back in the red/blue/yellow days... then it got too confusing... i'll stick with not playing ....

  • Maybe it was 151.

  • Whatever it is they're smoking when they create the new pokemon must be some pretty powerful stuff.  I think the cops need to get a drug warrant to search gamefreak facilities. :D

  • @Saosauce

    Well, they are japanese....

And I'm sure most of the people here know the japanese can be.... odd....

    Example. ^^^
  • Zapp Brannighan:  You must've smoked some bad granola!

  • no telling which one is which? i hope you were referring to the names and not the types, because thats fairly obvious. anyways, more pokemon is always a good thing! but i gotta admit.....its kinda hard to keep creating new pokemon, and sometimes it shows. that water dude looks ridiculous.

  • I actually like their design so...I'm not hatin'.

  • Yeah I still don't have a DS... waiting to see how cool the '3DS' is. Then I'll make a move back into pokemon.

  • Ew, awful...

  • Pokemon has just been churning out too many Pokemon with each generation. The 100 additional ones from Gold/Silver were fine, but since then the character design has dropped in both originality and creativity.  It's clear they're running out of good ideas. After 500 Pokemon the design space is pretty much tapped.

  • I like the designs on all but the water one. Pokemon is the *** and has been since the first series. People hate because they never played the new ones, or were ridiculed for it.

  • According to Serebii.net the water guy is an otter, this excites me, I'm picking him to start. I just wonder what their fully evolved forms are going to be now, and especially what types.

    @Kduff89

Those are the japanese names, not the english translated names.

Their names will change just like Fushigidane, Hitokage, and Zenigame changed to Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle respectively.
