Sony Announces Limited Edition Peace Walker Walkman

Today Sony announced a new Metal Gear Solid edition of its W-Series Walkman, to help promote Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker. The promotion makes sense, because both products have 'walk' in the title.

If you're not sold on the MGS Walkman, there's more: The camouflaged headset comes pre-loaded with the Peace Walker soundtrack, and also contains a coupon for unlocking special characters in the game. The Walkman also sports a quick charge feature, with three minutes of charging time providing 90 minutes of playback. Witchcraft!

If you ask me, Sony really missed the boat on promotional tie-ins – they should have made a Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker walker. Not only is it more clever than a Walkman, it would attract a completely new demographic for the franchise (old people), who would probably get a kick out of monkeys drinking from soda cans.

Huh, I had never even heard about this style of music player before, absolute genius. Just watched the CNET video, really cool piece. As much as I love having the full search capability and massive storage space of an iPod, this would be pretty convenient for trips to the gym and working out in the yard and stuff.

Also... I love MGS and Sony ^^;

Okay everyone, Sonys new walkman is an in-ear MP3 player....not a tape player. They've been using the Walkman title to label all their portable music players since the Cretaceous.
