Mafia II Video Has Explosions, Car Customization, And Fisticuffs

Being a gangster in the 1940s can be tough work. This Mafia II developer diary showcases all the features thugs will have at their disposal to make the crime racket a little less arduous. It covers everything from molotov cocktails to visceral melee combat,

Notable tidbits from the video:

You can only take 2-3 shots before you die
Cover is destructible
You can use grenades and molotovs
Melee moves can be environment sensitive
You can customize your beastly automobile.

Mafia II will be available August 24 for 360, PS3, and PC.

  • 2-3 Shots before you die, sounds very realistic. Wonder how it will traslate into fast paced action.

  • Very nice, game looks really great so far, but probably a rent.

  • looks good. i will pass since i have seen this done before in other games and better, imo.

  • mafia 2...... la noir........... why not both..............

  • WOW... this game looks gorgeous in motion. Beyond that, the driving looks very fun - that good balance of handling and realism that GTA:V missed, in my opinion. This video has my mind made up, I'll be picking it up on launch day ;D

  • I want to get this so bad the only thing in my way is my overportective mother

  • i never played the first mafia was it all that good? or should we all just wait for L.A. Noir

  • I like the western and mafia gangster theme both very much and both this game and Red Dead Redemption look absolutely wonderful, I'm going to side with Red Dead. Luckily this game is coming out way later than Red Dead so by the time i have more money and get a little bored (but not very)  I can be playing this game.

  • Alright, looks cool. Car customization should be in every game. You know you were pissed when GTA IV came out with no customization.

  • Mod

I enjoyed the first Mafia but had an issue with the controls.  If I remember correctly it was a PC game ported to Xbox and PS2.  I played on PS2 and it was very difficult without any aim assist.

One stand out feature I hope makes it into the sequel was the ability to pull over when the cops start chasing and pay a ticket.  Rather than having to spend the next few minutes trying to escape.

The 2-3 shots and our dead has me a little worried.  People will be shooting at me with Tommy guns for crying out loud!  Any one know the rate of fire for one of those bad boys?

  • This game looks pretty promising, but where the hell is the aiming reticle?

  • I always wanted to play a GTA style game in the different time setting...

  • two words; instant buy

  • Looks pretty cool, but probably won't get right out of the gates. Wait for a price drop or something.

  • ALL I CAN CAN SAY IS OMFG IM BUYING THIS

  • ... i have my doubts about this game... after all it was delayed over 5 times. we'll just wait and see...

  • everything in this game looks great!

  • @WarBuff6644-Something around 150 rpm

  • From what I've heard, it operates pretty much like every other sandbox RPG, but with Playboys. I wasn't intrigued.

    Now, I might consider it.

  • Oh man I can't wait! I am glad I am getting both L.A. Noire and this or I don't know what I'd choose. I'm disappointed that I didn't get my copy last week on its original release date but if this is the outcome for the wait, its worth it.
