If for some insane reason you don't own Portal in any form yet, you officially no longer have an excuse. Valve has announced that Portal will be available 100% for free on their downloadable game service, Steam, until May 24.

The game giveaway serves dual purposes. On the one hand, it celebrates the long-awaited launch of Steam for Mac, especially given that Portal now works on Mac. Bonus! At the same time, though, giving away copies of Portal will get even more gamers ready and excited for this fall's Portal 2.

I would download it since I really wanna play this game, but I plan on buying the Orange Box eventually anyway. Not very big on PC gaming anymore. Good move by Valve though. I'm going to suggest it to some friends for them to download, and look into getting the sequel.

i have the orange box for ps3, and lets just say i would rather have it for pc. (THERE IS SO MANY FREAKIN BUGS IN IT, OF COURSE YOU PROBABLY ALREADY KNOW THAT.)

This is pretty awesome! Thankfully, I have beaten Portal, but I am craving a second playthrough. Plus, I haven't downloaded Steam yet so now I have more incentive to do so!

Too bad the servers are overloaded. ***, Valve, didn't you know this game would move like hotcakes????? I played this game on orange box and own the dlc from xbox live. I plan to dl it from steam as soon as possible. Looking forward to the next installment. Co op portal FTW!!
