Natal Release Dated?

A Microsoft Saudi Arabia marketing employee gave an October worldwide release date for the company's motion-based Natal controller in an interview with Saudi television. Is the Middle East stepping up its leak game to compete with Europe?

Microsoft has yet to give an official statement regarding Natal's release date or the leak, but an October date makes a lot of sense and fits with previous indications from the company. Natal has been public knowledge for a year now, and Microsoft surely doesn't want to miss another holiday buying season.

The smart money is still on a big official announcement of release date, pricing, and launch titles at Microsoft's E3 press conference.

  • Everything sure is getting "leaked" a lot. Natal looks really cool, but the Playstation Move looks awesome. I mean how are you going to play FPS and games like Assassin's Creed with Natal? The Move just makes more sense.
  • i'd rather have it for the controller free interface than the actual games lol

  • Agreed with colton2658. Just to not have to turn on a controller to load Netflix would be awesome!! But as far as hardcore gaming goes..I would rather a controller in my hand..I used to pretend I was an assassin as a kid and walked around holding a butter knife..This will be less cool as I am now grown, and won't even be holding a butter knife...I can imagine my neighbors lining up at their window to watch me playing Gears of War 3 with Natal...**As I dive behind my sofa for cover from my television**
  • im really interested to see just how much microsoft is going to intigrate natal into the menues n day to day use n just how many 3rd party shovelware factories r goin to go nuts over all this interactive capability

  • So even Microsoft is viewing Natal as a "Mom, get this for me for Christmas" toy and not a "The future of interactive media" piece of hardware. At least they're good about keeping the truth written in between the lines. I don't see very many people shelling out their own money so they can wave at a TV.

Besides, what's that picture up there? Is that an actual promo pic? Is that "Try to Touch a Goldfish: The Game"? "It's like I'm really trying to touch a  $.79 fish but I'm not really touching it! Yippee!" Who's their target audience: People who continuously try to grab and/or wave at things on television?  Does Natal come packaged with a bib and helmet too? I'm almost insulted Microsoft's trying to market this to people with an IQ over 80.

  • Microsoft did confirm 2010 yea? So... Oct/Nov is a given.

Ghostpig - Something tells me you're actually aware, but that photo was from the tech demo Lionhead put out for Natal's unveiling.
  • If i wanted NATAL I would of gotten a wii

  • @Eyros

Awareness, schmawareness; as long as I laugh.

  • At the end of the day it's gonna be all about the price. No matter how innovative it is, if they want commercial success the price better fit

  • If it really is going to be priced at the range it's predicted to be, I'll buy it. We'll just have to see. You can't really judge something until you've tried it first hand.

@Joe Thibault: What are you talking about?

  • Guess what all you haters, you don't have to get it. Stop getting all whiny about it.  If you don't want to wave your arms at the TV then don't buy it or the games that utilize it.  Sure for hardcore gamers, this is going to be a pass. But, it's not going to hurt the hardcore anyway.  Sure the majority of Wii games suck, but nintendo still made billions of dollars off of it.  Microsoft wants to do a little cashing in too.  If you don't want it, you don't have to freakin' flame the forums with how dumb you think it will be.  Why don't you give it a chance?  How about you make your decisions after you see it at E3 or better yet, after you have actually tried it.

  • @Robert Barnes

Because it's more fun to complain. Duh.

  • I want that hard drive. Screw Natal. More memory please....

  • I don't know what I think of this yet. I mean think about it, do you want to play Natal? I'll admit it looks more promising than when the Wii was annouced, but I like to play my 360. And I'm still going to play it with a controller. If I wanted to play my Wii, I would(Why do I like Force Unleashed so much?!*sobs*). Overall I think it is a good move for MS, it'll bring more poeple in to the Xbox money trap.

    No offense Xbox.

Hi Xbox, it's me again! Just wanted to apologize for what I said earlier.

    Please forgive me!

  • What's kind of funny is that even if I wanted this, my crappy 2004 TV probably wouldn't be able to utilize it very well.  It's so low towards the ground, it would probably just show my crotch region, and I would rather not control the game with my-

    Yeah, I'll just stop there.

  • I hope its not too expensive, Id really like to check this out.

  • I do think that the controller free interface would be really cool for navigating the dashboard or using netflix but I'm not sure that it's worth the price of admission for that reason alone. As an actual gaming device it's going to be interesting for a while but then become home to games that nobody wants to play even though they cost 8 dollars at Gamestop. It will be similar to the Wii but with much less staying power as the Wii at least has controllers.

  • Although I WOuld Love To Get My Hands On The Natal.... I Doubt That It Would Be Released On October. But, Who Knows.

  • Well it should come out before or alongside Fable 3 since that game is going to use Natal in some way.

I don't know if I'm actually interested in trying Natal yet.  I'll have to wait for the E3 demo to see if it's going to be good for anything more than just minigames and stuff.

  • the release date doesn't concern me as much as knowing whether or not it will be full of flaws like the 360 was when it first came out
