LucasArts President Darrell Rodriguez Resigns

If you’ve ever been president of a multi-million dollar company – preferably with the entertainment industry – maybe it’s time to start updating your resume. It looks like LucasArts might have some job openings, since Darrell Rodriguez, the company’s former president, resigned earlier today.

According to Kotaku the announcement was made earlier today at one of the companies board meetings. Rodriguez has held LucasArt’s reins since April of 2008, during which time the company released Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues, Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Republic Heroes, and Fracture. So a bit of a mixed bag.

Reportedly a few of Rodriguez’s executives left along with him, and Lucasfilm's Jerry Bowerman will be running things while the company looks for a permanent replacement. We’d throw our hat in the ring, but our three years of management experience at Quizno’s might not be as competitive as we’d like it to be.

  • man that sux!

  • Of the four games released under his tenure, only Force Unleashed was worth anything.  Maybe we'll get some good Star Wars games now.

    I doubt it though.

  • I thought force unleashed was linear and short, and didn't like it that much. can we just see the KOTOR title we've been waiting for for years now? i don't get what about that would be a bad move for lucasarts

  • I hope this wont affect the development of SWTOR. I dont care who is in charge, as long as that game kicks ass.

  • "Hire me. Hire me or I'll hit you. I'm serious." is the only thing I'm going to say in my interview with LucasArts next week.

Hell, I'll send in my resume. I finished college and I work for cheap. Don't think I won't, I've done dumber *** before in my life. Why the *** not? You gotta play if you want to win, right? So who wants to write a letter of recommendation for me?

  • This better not be a detriment to their ongoing love of their back catalog. I would love to see more special editions :-)

  • Quiznos! Hmmmmm, only the greatest subs ever.

Oh and I hope LucasArts isn't effected too bad by Rodriguez's resign. Hope he can find another job, even if he was the CEO it still isn't easy finding a job that will even pay a fourth of what he made.

  • @ Ghostpig

Lmao, sounds like a good idea to me!

  • wonder why he resigned? best of luck to him where ever he goes next

  • bummer... still pumped for Foce Unleashed 2... and hopefully they'll stop with the lego games

  • Why? This doesn't make any sense. Still pumped for Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2!!!
  • Good, now give us a Stars Wars console RPG, or let bioware do it. Just do something.

  • Lol, this was hilarious. Does being the CEO of my sofa for about 5 years seem better? No? Aw crud.

@ Ghost Pig, don't worry I'll send you a letter of recommendation via the Bully System. I'll help you with the nooggies and wedgies that are gonna be given out.
  • Lucasarts is in for some pretty bad stuff I guess.

  • That job is as good as mine now!!!!

  • I think I'll send in an It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia-style resume: a single nonsensical graph with doodles of busty women in margin.

  • this sux so bad....

  • Lucasarts' track record over the last 10 years has been so mixed.  For every Jedi Knight, we got a Clone Wars.  Force Unleashed was a breath of fresh air to be sure.  Hopefully, with new management taking the reigns, we may have something to look forward in terms of new games (more than 1 game a year).  And perhaps Lucasarts may finally break the IP bubble and come up with some new game that may blow our minds...

Or they'll just stay stuck in mediocrity for the next 10 years too.

  • Yeah Force Unleashed is the only decent game listed there.

  • why did he leave?
