The lights are on
Yep, that is the genuine logo for Harmonix's next Rock Band entry to be revealed on May 20 to a select crowd of E3 judges in Los Angeles. The invite promises that RB 3 is "a game that will once again change the way people look at music video games." I sure hope so because I think it's safe to say that it's getting harder to psych myself up for each new release.Word on the street is that Harmonix is moving in a more realistic direction, which could add a new layer of challenge, fun, and education or it could turn into a boring, overcomplicated music lesson that you see in plenty of PC software.

Music games are pretty much dead. Its a shame, but the Hero stuff just took away any desire to play these games. Hopefully Rockband can bring something new and more importantly FUN to the table.
I think this will fail.
I'm interested to see what they mean by "a more realistic direction" but at the same time I'm also awash with overwhelming "meh"-ness. O, dichotomy!
I have no idea what to expect for now. Im just going to see where this goes be4 buying anything.
I will remain cautiously optimistic. If this were Guitar Hero, I'd write it off immediately. I still have faith in Rock Band and Harmonix to do something worthwhile and innovative. We'll just have to see where this goes...
If anyone can breath new life into music games it's Harmonix. Heres to well see.
wtf? this just more B.S. after GH3 I just got sick of music games.
While not a big fan of music games, I like seeing how the developers are trying to move the genre forward. RB3..... what will they come up with this time? Music videos, more original downloaded content, added Natal/Move support, actual music lessons?
no. ewwwwwww. i am waiting for DJ Hero 2.
Music games just need to die already. They are all the same. This will be nothing more then a rehash of the previous Rock Bands, with new music and a few little quirks and tweeks so that they can justify releasing a new game.
It would be interesting if we could go into the past and destroy the inventor of any such music game..or dance game...it is a sickness with a number of sequels and playoffs as the worst horror movies you could imagine...
Music/Dance games blow.
Pick up a musical instrument or go out to a club.
at this point the music/band genre of games should be left to DLC of songs and nothing more.
There is nowhere left to go without overcomplicating things.
It's *** video game. If I wanted realism and more of a challenge i would go learn a real instrument.
I don't think that many people care about music games. Activision killed them off.
As long as they don't tamper with the core gameplay, i'm psyched for this.
Sick of all these music games.
Uggghhhhhh...I see a new music game is out every time I log in to GI Online. Enough already.
yeah so how is rockband 3 not revealed in a telling statement such as "rockband 3 revealed in a couple weeks" w/ a few info-bits telling how this one might seem different from the rest of the music-gaming genre. a funny thought is that most of the people play these cuz they are easy and fun(for them atleast) not bcuz they r challengin like real instruments. and really, people still buy enuff of these for them to not only make sequels left and right, but also enuff for them to try to upgrade them?!?
